It was my first visit to Rafferty (and my last). I had low Vitamin D so Rafferty prescribed 50K IUs for about 6 weeks and then ordered another blood test to check the Vitamin D. After the 6 weeks I got another blood test and my Vitamin D level went even lower (I followed the prescription perfectly). Her advice was to order another Vitamin D prescription plus told me to also take over-the-counter D3 tablets and come back for another blood test in 6 weeks. It cost me out of pocket $100 between the prescription and the blood test. I never did refill the 2nd Rx because she couldn’t explain why my D dropped. Why would I pay another $100 for something that did not work. I started getting more sun, eating more healthier (less salt, sugar, more veggies), took over-the-counter D3, and my Vitamin D went back to normal. Also during this visit I was explaining to her the diagnosis from another doctor and she abruptly started screaming at me that she never heard of such a thing. Also her “assistant” named “Candy” was a real piece of work. I went in to get my second Hep B vaccine and “Candy” came into the waiting room and bellowed / shouted extremely loud “is there someone here for a Hep B vaccine”. Also during my first visit with Rafferty, they scheduled my first and second Hep B vaccines. There is a waiting period between vaccines that must be followed. They erroneously scheduled my 2nd two weeks earlier than it should have been and fortunately I caught it myself and brought it to their attention. The only reason I got the Hep B is because another doctor I trusted recommended it but that doctor was too far away after I moved and that is why I was in Rafferty’s office only one time. I never went back and requested to change doctors which they did for me.

Could have cost me my life
I saw her regularly for 20 years ... when I had a perceptible cardiac arrhythmia I was told by her nurse that no appointments were available, I should just go to the ER. Prior to that I had to insist on a bone density scan because of heredity ... discovered I had severe osteoporosis. She never promoted statin therapy to me, nor advised to have a calcium score. When I switched doctors, they advised after testing that I was 'very high risk' for a heart attack (at 63) and should have been on statins for years. She constantly talks about herself and her issues in an appointment. I won't see another doc at Tryon Partners ever again.

Didn't care
I've seen Dr Rafferty for 20 years and yesterday she refused to see me because the check in line was 6 minutes and I arrived on time! Very disappointing, rude considering I wasn't late and it was the office fault for delay. She ignored the plee from the staff to see me, since it wasn't my fault! I drove over an hour! I'm not impressed with her skills anyway as I'm a Dr too, she just had all my records for years from another Dr! I'm better off seeing a dr who respects me and my time and not one who rambles on about her own personal life and problems! I'm tired of it.

Ignore all the signs
If you’re interested in a doctor that ignores all the symptoms of heart issues because you’re thinnish and have a low resting heart rate..this is the dr for you! If you want to find a doctor that would be concerned about a chronic cough, crushing chest pains and enlarged heart (due to chest xray ordered by another dr at same practice)…keep looking. If I went with her advice I would not be aware that I have a significant heart defect that may require surgery.

She does not care about you
I have been seeing this doctor since I was a teenage and am now 36. For my most recent wellness check I was put in the room at 7:05am after a delay checking in at the lobby downstairs. By the time the nurse took my vitals it was 7:08. She walks in the room and says ‘well we’re going to have to speed thru this because your appointment was at 7am’. My mind was blown. Mainly because the previous month I had some medical concerns that she never even brought up which were clearly in my chart. If this doesn’t scream I don’t care about your health I don’t know what does. Time to find a new primary doctor.

There are better empathetic doctors out there, both in Tryon Medical and elsewhere. Habitual behavior of looking for the easy solution in diagnosing chronic pain ; "just lose some weight". Apparently has never heard of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or when to start screening tests for it. New doctor came thru aces and ordered tests. Always trust yourself if you know something isn't right!

Refused to work with another doctor that I had seen in another state. She said that she did not work for that doctor. As a result, I had to travel back to the other state to get X-rays and Cat scan.

Just had my first appointment with Dr. Maureen Rafferty. She is kind, professional and I for the first time in a long time feel like I have partner to work with concerning my medical care. Dr. Rafferty took the time to learn about me and my medical history. I look forward to having her as my primary care physician for some time. In addition the whole staff at Tryon Medical Partners were attentive and professional from check in to check out. Thanks for a great experience.

Dismissive and argumentative when questioning her. Don’t book an appointment with her even if she’s the only one available. There’s a reason why.

Had my first appointment with Dr Rafferty. She is awesome. Very thorough. She knew everything about me before entering the room. I was very impressed. Answered all my questions and spent a lot of time with me. Understood me and cared about all my concerns. We talked about and she explained how we would stay on top of all issues going forward.

Wow, all I can say if you lived in Nazi Germany, you would think this lady was a nice person. Not so much if you are used to being in control of your own life.

I went to Dr. Rafferty for a simple bacterial infection. She refused to give me antibiotics, on the grounds that everyone was dispensing them to freely , even though the test was positive for an infection. I then had to go to an urgent care over the weekend, and eventually to a specialist. Something that should have been taken care of in one office visit, lasted 2 weeks and cost several hundred dollars. I found her to be condescending and argumentative. I would never recommend her.

This doctor was in a rush during my appointment. She berated my previous doctor for the meds prescribed to me. Talk down about that doctor for not being an Internist. Switched my meds. and did not continue others. I had a miserable two months after seeing her. I had to wait a full one month just to get an appointment with the lab. The lab did not have the proper instructions as to what tests were needed. I will not go to her again and I will encourage anyone to seek another doctor and facility!
