This so called “doctor” denied a treatment for my son who has been suffering for years with PANDAS. All the books and doctors agree on the treatment but not this doctor. I would love her opinion on how I can treat my son then, because over 16 pills a day is NOT working.

Denied medication that could prevent my daughter from staying in remission.

She clearly doesn’t have any actual working knowledge of what it means to care for a person with a trach and on a ventilator (she called it a “breathing machine”). She won’t approve our need for more PDN hours because she feels a babysitter is sufficient. According to her, she believes a person with a trach who cannot clear their own airway can just wait for suctioning or airway clearance until a skilled nurse can stop by (not true, it needs to happen within a minute or less—how long can you choke before you die?). Emergency trach change? Yep, that can wait too. She blatantly disregarded our pulmonary doctor’s letter of medical necessity. My husband and I both work fulltime+ hours and need a minimum of 130 hrs/week just to function. She is approving 84. It’s a literal slap in the face and prevents us from providing for our family’s needs (both income and benefits). The real kicker is we were previously approved for these hours under the same plan and same kid in the same situation.

Ignored documentation that I submitted from my son’s physician and denied a United Healthcare claim citing a lack of documentation. When you do not see a patient, you should not be allowed to make medical decisions for that patient.

She reviewed and denied an appeal written by my daughter's endocrinologist to United Healthcare Insurance. We are requesting an Omni Pod Insulin Pump to help my daughter manage her Type 1 Diabetes instead of shots. Her note stated we are requesting a special pump and that it costs more than other pumps! How can it be a "special" pump if the doctor and my daughter feel it is the best option for her and her 10 year old active lifestyle! Other than it is not a Medtronic pump which UHC is backing!
