We brought my son into Hurley ER because of a viral infection and a small bruise that randomly showed up. When we got there they immediately reported us to CPS and forced us to do unnecessary tests like a head CT, his bruise was on his chest. We figured he rolled on a toy because he learned to roll a few days before. He definitely had no injury to his head and a CT on a child that young can increase the risk of childhood cancer. They said if we refuse the head CT that they’d get a court order and they know the judge would grant it. That’s coercion. They ignored bloodwork showing an elevated aPTT level. Threatened to take our sweet baby away. Didn’t test him for Covid until we demanded it after being there for 5 hours. We were harassed by her and her staff. Turns out my son has a bleeding disorder and them reporting us to CPS delayed his diagnosis by two months when our investigation was over and we were able to take him to sane doctors. My worst nightmare er visit. Avoid at all costs.

Nasty hospital and even nastier staff. Dr. Brooks was rude and unwilling to take an emergency with my son seriously even though we were sent there from urgent care. She even stated she had patients with actual emergencies to take care of. When I told her I wanted to speak to a patient advocate she refused to give the number and retaliated with a nasty chart note. Her nurses also refused to provide the number and mocked me and other families while I was there. Gossiping about protected health information and zero compassion. This was in the pediatric emergency unit. Making fun of children and their families, disgusting. The entire staff needs patient relations training or to be fired for that matter.
