Dr. Michael Banov, MD

I love Dr. Banov as a doctor. I would highly recommend him.

DO NOT COME HERE. The providers here will make assumptions about you and impose those assumptions onto a diagnosis. At my first visit, the provider kept saying “I’m sure your job is stressful… you must have been a good student to get in” and things along those lines when this was not the reality. Because I work in healthcare, they kept saying “I’m sure you know more about XYZ than I do.” I never felt like a patient but more like someone they were trying to appease. They gave me a diagnosis that completely contradicted everything I told them because they went off of their assumptions. I was told that Dr. Banov agreed on the diagnosis. I wanted a second opinion from Dr. Banov and not one of his practicing staff, and they said Dr. Banov stood his ground. I asked to speak to Dr. Banov repeatedly and was denied that. The staff just kept saying “I’m sorry you feel that way.” More than anything, I was frustrated by how unprofessional the provider was by making these assumptions.

Dr Banov is that rare physician who has truly found his calling. He always listens to my concerns and works with me on his recommendations to find the best solution. He is caring and kind. He goes that extra mile for his patients. I never go longer than a day without a returned call or email. I highly recommend him.

I've been a patient for 5 years. I never even met Dr. Banov, but I can tell you about one of his APRNs (psychiatric nurses). Most of the time she acted like she would rather be anywhere else than helping me. Her demeanor was always flat and more than a little condescending. The truth of the matter is that this is the epitome of assembly line psychiatry. If you are looking for true compassion and empathetic treatment, you need to look elsewhere.

Dr Banove and the staff at Northwest Behavioral Medicine are proffesional in every aspect of this practice. The atmosphere in the waiting area is quite relaxed. The ladies at the check-in desk are friendly and adept at discreetly handling general questions or concerns a patient might initially have. Dr Banov is wonderful in that he listens to his patients, makes helpful observations that get at the heart of the problem. It is evident that he stays current with research into new drugs and treatment options. Dr Banov encourages his patients to look beyond the prescription and employ actions that do not rely on medication alone but work along side them. After being his patient for more than 10 years I highly recommend him.

I have been seeing Dr. Banov over 10 years and find him very caring, attentive, intelligent, and knowledgeable. Wouldn't consider seeing anyone else.
