Fantastic urologist
I'm 63 now and my first kidney stones came when I was about 20 so I've seen too many urologists. I also had an enlarged prostate from early on. Having moved around a bit earlier in life Dr. Curtis was the 4th or 5th doctor I worked with. As anyone who's ever had a kidney stone knows they can be very painful. Michael Curtis is the most compassionate doctor I've ever dealt with and always listens carefully and with respect to what I've had to say and how I feel. In addition to treating me for kidney stones he performed green light laser surgery on my enlarged prostate around 15 years ago. At that time I was waking up 2 or 3 times a night to pee but ever since then, 15 years later I still sleep thru the night. He moved to Maine a dozen or so years ago and I was very sad to see him go but I had to make an appointment recently and saw his name listed as my local hospital urologist again. He's returned to the area and will be my doc until he retires or I die, whichever comes first.

Very bad experience!
I had recurring UTI infections, which, however, were undetectable in urinalysis. Undetectable UTI is very common and could depend of many factors including overhydration and I usually drink a lot of water. Dr. Curtis was called to consult on my case and, after examination, claimed I had gonorrhea. I told him I was married and faithful and that my husband and I spend almost 24 hours together each day, so there was no way he would cheat on me and I did not know about it. Dr. Curtis was rude and did not want to listen to me. He prescribed me a ton of antibiotics at once, after which my digestive system was recovering for a month! Thankfully, because of this ton of antibiotics, my UTI was gone in an hour, which means it was a bacterial infection, just like I said. And, of course, the next day, the gonorrhea test he ordered came negative. I felt so humiliated during and after this examination.

Don’t come in if you have a chronic case or heaven forbid an issue that non urologic that overlaps. I had an issue that shared similar symptoms to urology issues but we’re not related. It never occurred to him it could be something else. I felt like he didn’t want to listen and that he was gaslighting me into thinking I was simply depressed because my job was remote. He ignored the fact I told him I exercise and Love my job! He was extremely manipulative!

He spoke for twenty minutes on how my moms issues were psychological and nothing was wrong with her. She left the office and cried for two days. She is still getting infections and bladder won’t drain. She was seen at urgent care few days later with an infection. Read the reviews. Why does he get to practice anymore?

I went to see Curtis after seeing two other MidCoast Hospital urologist. Curtis ignored my ideas and my pain I told him I am in (and still am in). He would not listen to me and prescribed me medicine I had said did NOT help. And then put anxiety on my record when I never said I was anxious. I am anxious because the pain I am having is been ignored by doctors like Curtis. He is the worst doctor I've ever seen.
