So sarcastic and rude. Made my wife cry.
Super rough and rude. Made my wife cry and didn’t care at all. Having our first child and he treated us like idiots that were inconveniencing him. Do NOT recommend

Ignored my miscarriage
I suffered endo and pcos since I was 10 and it wasn't discovered until I was 16, after which I was always on some form of birth control. Around the time I hit 30, I started getting severe migraines or altered mental status that would go away if I quit the birth control. I begged him to give me a hysterectomy but he refused saying 'You might meet a guy that wants to have kids' even though i did not. This all hit worse in March 2020 when I was 35 and he scheduled me for an ablation. I couldn't take the birth control anymore and ended up pregnant but didn't know. He performed a uterine biopsy that caused a miscarriage but didn't fully miscarry. Weeks later at the surgery is when he told me I was pregnant and wouldn't do anything for me or my pain. I went to planned parenthood who monitored my hcg levels and told me to get to the ER. He was on call and ignored everything I said. I went to U of M who found the miscarried tissue and removed it. This was nearly 2 months later post biopsy.

L AND D VISIT
My daughter was sent to Oaklawn Hospital per her OB’s instruction. Met with Dr. Engel. He was absolutely the worst. My daughter went in with high BP and irregular HB. She’s 35 weeks pregnant. She is also considered high risk! Never ordered bloodwork ( said the bloodwork from a week before showed things were fine), never checked urine, no ultra sound, no ekg. My daughter’s husband also said he wasn’t comfortable with that Dr, or the way he was handling things. Still no change. Anytime I’ve gone to Oaklawn with my daughter, the experience has been absolutely positive! If she has to go back for an emergency or a checkup before her delivery again, and he’s on call, I will support my daughter and SIL when they refuse his services and he will definitely know what I think of his bedside manner..his way of treating patients is absolutely unacceptable, and I hope to never have to deal with him!!! Oaklawn should take him off their list of Drs who can work in L AND D.

He wanted to perform a hysterectomy on me. I sought a second opinion and discovered that I didn't need one! Run away from this "doctor???".

I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis 10 years ago, at age 20, and had my hysterectomy at 24, but they left an ovary in. I went to at least 5 different doctors begging for the removal of the last ovary because the pain continued. Finally, I got an appointment with Dr. Engel. He listened to my story, and didn't hesitate. He was compassionate and I felt like he truly cared about my treatment. He preformed the last ovary removal about two weeks ago, and I haven't felt this good since before I was 20. I have the estrogen patch now and am so happy that I don't have to worry about the pain anymore. Thank you, Dr. Engel!

I wish I could give 0 stars. I feel like a chart instead of a pregnant patient. Spend less than 5 minutes with him each time and feels like he wants to run out of the room. Couldn’t even get prenatals was told to buy them OTC. When asking if I could deliver at Hurley vs. McLaren was told “No, McLaren won’t want to lose you” - so I’m a paycheck? Doesn’t remember that I’m diabetic each visit, or that he sent me to a high risk doctor, there’s no follow up. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT DO NOT USE HIM!

I rarely write reviews unless I feel like it is absolutely necessary. I would not recommend going to see him, you are better off going to an urgent care for your issues. He has not helped me whatsoever and I still have the same issues that I came in to get help for. I don’t even feel comfortable going back because he doesn’t even seem like he cares to be there.

Tried to schedule an appointment online, filled out all of my paperwork online as well, got called a day before my appointment by a secretary that was very rude & unprofessional, saying I would need to come in just to fill out my paper work and they wouldn't be able to see me that day, I am 14 weeks pregnant, have been moving states for the past two months so I haven't been able to get insurance or a doctor until now. The secretary did not understand this, so I will never recommend this office.

Dr. Engel is awesome, in fact all of his staff are as well. Especially his nurse Stephanie. Dr. Engel performed a partial hysterectomy on me 3 years ago. Now my Dr. says I need ovaries out due to a large mass. I told her the only Gynecologist I trusted was Dr. Engel. She called his office and they immediately got me in the next day. I need to get my ovaries out within the next couple weeks and I am sure I will be just as pleased as I was when he removed my uterus.

I am a patient of Dr. Engel's and I highly recommend him. He is professional, friendly, personable, and his nurse is also wonderful. I feel comfortable asking him questions and I never feel like my appointment is being rushed. I am a new patient of his, but I still highly recommend him as a doctor. He's wonderful!!!!
