I was in a deep sleep when my wife told me that her mother had died after a heart surgery that her doctor gave her a 99% chance of living through. What kind of an egomaniac gives that statistic that gives a family those odds of their loved one recovering. Who?

As a retired physician, I had an acute rupture of my mitral valve. Dr. Halkos and his team kept me alive until surgery was possible and then did a most excellent endoscopic robotic repair, leaving me in better shape than before the rupture. I could not have asked for more, and the team could not have been any better. Even the hospital food was good! But the nursing staff at St. Joseph's is second to none. I am not recommending heart surgery for fun, but if you need it, you could not pick a better physician and team.

Dr Halkos is an amazing surgeon. I had an extremely rare double valve issue to where no surgeon where I lived would repair my heart. Dr. Halkos saved my life through a replacement of one valve and a repair on another. He has an excellent bedside manner and an unparalleled ability.

Dr. Halkos performed my minimally invasive robotic mitral valve repair in Dec. 2016. He took plenty of time explaining the procedure to my wife and I. His office staff was very friendly and professional. Appointments were always kept and reasonably on time. He performed the surgery at St. Joseph's Emory hospital. The nursing staff and overall care there was excellent. Overall I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Halkos and his office.

Dr. H repaired my husband's mitral valve in 2012. There was extensive bleeding and my husband was in an induced coma on life support for weeks. Dr. H was always willing to explain things to me on my level. He was down to earth, totally unpretentious, and he saved my husbands life. We love him.

Thank you so much. Took time on a holiday weekend to see my wife for a consult and schedule CABG surgery. By-pass surgery is scary at best but you and your staff made it a great life experience. From the time I met you I felt confident that you were the one to take care of my wife of 30 plus years. Not to be weird, but every morning I wake up with my wifeI I think of you. No words can express my gratitude. The nurses are right. You are the best! Thank You!
