Dr. Michael Hellman, MD

Dr. Hellman, & his team, did both my knee replacements, the first in one April 2022 & the second one, which I am still recuperating from, in Aug. He & his staff were both friendly & professional. They really listened the me & patiently answered all the questions I had about the surgeries. His PA Austin Christianson was also very helpful. They both took the time with me to help me understand the surgery, & it's risks, as well as, what to expect when recuperating. They are also very helpful if you have questions after your surgery. I emailed Dr. Hellman on a Friday with a no n urgent question on medication. I did not expect an answer back before Mon., but I had an answer back the next day (Sunday). Dr. Hellman is a very busy surgeon, yet he & his staff see to care about each of their patients. I have had very little pain & my PT says I am doing great with the PT. I would/& have recommended others to doc who may be thinking of any orthopedic surgery to help them with their problems.

I had hip issues for almost 2 years before I asked my doctor to look more into my pain I was having. We did some x rays. After his evaluation he referred me to Dr. Hellman at Rockhill Orthopedics. It has been 1 year since my hip replacement. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Hellman from the very first visit. He was very informative about my procedure on my hip. His staff was great throughout the process getting me prepared for my surgery. Everything went well, just as expected. I could not be more pleased with the my decision to use Dr. Hellman and the staff at Rockhill Orthopedics.

I am a 68 year old male that had a total knee replacement six months ago. I haven't felt this good in 7 years. I was very happy with the care and professionalism provided by Dr. Hellman and staff.

Dr. Hellman performed two total knee replacements and did an excellent job. My physical therapists told me that I (and all of Dr. Hellman’s patients) recovered better and faster than patients of other surgeons. He responds to questions via the St. Lukes patient portal within hours, even on the weekend. Excellent bedside manner. He is constantly looking for ways to improve his patients’ recovery — between the 2 surgeries he researched ways to reduce swelling post surgery. Immediately before the 2nd surgery he gave me two additional injections and the 2nd knee recovery went better even than the 1st. Could not recommend him more highly.

My TKR went smoothly with surgery and recovery going wonderful. Dr. Hellman and Austin listened to all my concerns and answering a ton of questions.

I put off having knee for several years before I realized it had to be done. I was amazed how well the surgery, rehab. and recovery went. Outstanding professional care.

Dr. Hellman was personable and seemed to genuinely care about my situation. My hip replacement was done extremely well (and I am a nurse, so I know). After surgery he communicated quickly and patiently with my family. I would definitely use him again for orthopedic help.

At 76, i was a bit apprehensive about having my left knee replaced. Dr. Hellman showed me what the replacement looked like and explained how it functioned. The surgery went well and I no longer have the pain of bone on bone, and no limping. I am in the healing phase and from week to week, with PT, i am improving and on track. I plan on having my right knee replaced in the fall. I would highly recommend Dr. Hellman for your needs.

I had a left hip replacement in Jan. 2021. The surgery with Dr. Hellman went very well. A week later walking without no walker or cane. I had a very good experience. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hellman for hip replacement.

Dr. Hellman replaced my left knee on December 23rd. He did an excellent job. In the pre-surgery prepping he explained precisely what would happen. The surgery and rehab were excellent. Every time I sent a message on "MyChart" responded within 24 hours or sooner. I would give a rating of a 5 out of 5.

His bedside demeanor along with staff is excellent and they provide excellent information about procedures and what to expect.

Dr. Hellman performed both of my knee replacement surgeries, 6 weeks apart. He has done an excellent job, scars are minimal, knees feel and function very good! I highly recommend both Dr. Hellman and Saint Lukes East medical center for their care!

just had my 8 week follow up on hip replacement with Dr. Hellman. More than great surgeon (which he is) He's a great doc that takes his time to explain what is going on and what to expect. My expectations were exceeded by his skills and manner. Anyone looking for Orthopedic advice or second opinions, it would be worth your while to see him. I had been to 8 Orthos before and one "specialist" for a total of 9 before finding Dr. Hellman. He knew exactly what my problem was and how to move forward with it.

Dr Hellman and his staff provided excellent care when I had knee replacement in September 2020. He answered every question and concern I had and was reassuring along the way. Definitely will use him if and when other knee needs replacement.

I am 76 years old and in November Dr. Hellman replaced my right knee and by December I am walking great and only have very little discomfort. He has a great bedside manner and answers any questions you have. I very highly recommend him.

Total Knee Replacement:From office visit to surgery, Dr. Hellman and his team provided exceptional care and information on what I would expect through the process. In my opinion, Dr. Hellman spent a great amount of time in communicating the entire knee replacement procedure . I appreciated this fact very much. If I had a question it was answered in such a way that I understood. In other words His answers are understandable. He doesn't talk down to you. His staff is also professional and caring, In fact the whole experience from checking in to checking out was smooth and effortless on my part.

Dr. Hellman and his team performed a total right knee replacement for me on Sep 2, 2020. The pre and post operation instructions from Dr. Hellman were very thorough. The surgery was a complete success. Two months have passed and my knee feels great. No more pain and excellent, smooth movement with my knee. Dr. Hellman is a very knowledgeable, professional and caring surgeon. He took the time to answer all of my questions, before and after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Hellman if you’re considering knee surgery.

I had a total knee replacement 2 months ago. I am doing great and have had very little pain during the entire time. I know that everyone deals with pain differently, so all I can say is what I experienced. Dr. Hellman did a great job with me.
