Absolutely terrible, had my knee replaced and was in pain for one year, found out I had a bone infection that could have killed me or lose my leg. I went to 2 other surgeons that said my knee was loose and falling apart inside my leg, within 13 months I had to have 2 knee surgeries on the same knee. Higgins is rude, arrogant and a terrible surgeon

Cares for people like an angry bear
His staff is full of liars and so is he. Awful bedside manner. Made my husband wait 3 weeks for surgery after breaking his hip. Did not give pain meds after surgery. Would not allow PT at home. My husband had to wait 10 days for PT. Doctor never called me after surgery to let me know everything was ok or not. No one has checked on my husband or let him know when to come in for an appointment after surgery he had to call them. Worst patient care ever! Fine someone else.

Horrible communicator
I have had several appointments with Dr Higgins, and he consistently does a poor job of providing an environment where you can get your questions answered and explained. On every visit, he didn't even say hello, and never once asked if I had questions, etc. I am fairly assertive when it comes to understanding issues related to my health, and with Dr. Higgins, i had to practically chase him down the hall to get my questions answered. My personal physician referred me to Dr Higgins, and maybe he is a good surgeon, but unless my situation was unique, don't expect to have a doctor who is going to make it easy to have a dialogue with about your diagnosis and treatment, or alternatives.

Minus stars if I could
I would not recommend him to anyone. Three years he would not help me with pain from my knee replacement he did, it turned out to be all tendon issues and I have suffered so badly from it. Knee started to actually give out and I could not bear weight on it at all and cried in pain and he shrugged his shoulders and was going to send me to pain management. I am seeing another knee surgeon now who is helping with all the tendon issues and helping me so much to get my life back from the three years of it slowing being taking away from this knee replacement. I am unable to dance, swim, run. my knee does not extend all the way straight. It is horrible and he did not care for a second. He just wanted to sell me his CBD oil and send me to pain management! He has very poor bedside manners and shrugs his shoulders all the time when you tell him you are in pain. Since he replaced my knee I have a disability tag, a walker and a cane and a complete knee replacement is supposed to be a good thing.

Very professional and caring. I’m new in the area and he took X-rays. Told me what was wrong and exercises to help. He gave me shots in my back and the pain is almost gone.

After more than a year of pain management & PT at the VA my husband finally received the green light for surgical repair for a hamstring/groin avulsion (extremely painful.) Unfortunately the VA is booked for months so my husband was referred to Dr. Higgins thru the VA's Community Care program. After waiting 1-1/2 hours (this particular day was triple booked!) Dr. Higgins spent a whole 3 minutes to tell my husband that he didn't need surgery (after asking him why he was there even though he had a whole file with info, x-rays and MRI data.) Dr. Higgins was dismissive, rude & arrogant. What an absolute waste of precious time.

Emergency Surgery
I fell trying to sit down at m computer and broke my femur. Was taken to the Bravera ER, Dr Higgins was on call and how fortunate I was to have him for a surgeon. He made the repair with an appropriate device and my recovery has been steady and extremely well supervised by Dr. Higgins.

This Doctor is 1 in a million. He cares so much about his patients. 1st time my knee went out on me it was late afternoon, closing time for the office. I called his office and told them about my issue. Dr. Higgins waited along with his trainees, until I arrived to check me out. What other Doctor will take the time to stay after hours to care for a patient. I'm 77 years old and have never come across a more compassionate and dedicated Doctor as Dr. Higgins.

Dr. Higgins came in on a Sunday morning to do surgery on my mom who fell and broke her hip the day before. Since this happened during COVID, I wasn't able to go down to be with her and she was alone at the hospital and rehab. Dr. Higgins is a busy doctor but he has taken time to speak with me over the phone numerous times and to be an advocate for her in my absence. He helped me navigate the hospital, insurance and rehab issues that came along since this is the first experience I've had with this. When my mom was having a hard time doing what she needed to do to regain her strength, he helped me give her the tough love she needed to get over that hump. She is doing so much better now!! I cannot recommend Dr. Higgins enough. He is a caring, kind, knowledgeable doctor who has his patients best interest at heart. Thank you Dr. Higgins for all you have done and continue to do for my family.

Dr. Higgins is very down to earth and will give his honest opinion. His care is above and beyond the many other doctors that I have been too. I've had total knee replacement in both knees and he did a terrific job in letting me know all about the surgery, what to expect and was available anytime I needed him. He is far beyond the best! So happy that I chose him to do my surgeries! I could not ask for better care.

Dr. Higgins was my doctor when I broke my fibula and tibia on April 1,2020. He made me like I was in good hands from the first minute we talked about the break! He put two screws in the tibia on April 13th. Everything healed well under his excellent care. I’d go every two weeks. Six weeks after surgery I was walking, slowly at first. Now I’m almost 100 percent! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Higgins to anyone who needs an Orthopedic Surgeon! ( in fact our daughter went for a hand injury). Dr. Higgins is very friendly and takes time to explain what is going on, all with a sense of humor! He is very caring as well! His office staff is also top notch! I never want to break another bone but I wouldn’t go to anyone else! Thank you for making this journey as pleasant as possible! Five stars and then more!??
