Rveiw of Hilts Direct Primary Care practice
I went to this physician because I wanted to try the direct primary care model of practice. Unfortunately, I did not investigate fully the 'functional medicine' nature of his practice. I was quite uneasy about his tests, his interpretation of the tests, and the health literature he cited to support his adherence to functional medicine. This material was either anecdotal in nature or poorly constructed research studies. He also discounted what he called 'mainstream' physicians. This experience prompted further investigation of functional medicine, and what I read led me to quit his practice. If you do not have insurance through your employer or cannot obtain it through the Affordable Care Act or Medicaid, then I guess some primary care is better than none. Otherwise, buyer beware.
