I have a genetic condition where one of the symptoms is hypoparathyroidism. I was unaware of my condition for 37 of 41 years of my life. My daughter's specialist on this genetic condition referred me to Dr. Mannstadt and he's been a wealth of knowledge. He had a detailed plan on how to adjust my calcium intake so that I am not taking more or less than my body needs. He ran various types of blood work as well as having me do a 24-hour urine analysis. If I had any questions, he was able to answer them in a way I can understand. Although he is two hours away, I wouldn't consider any other endocrinologist because he is very in tuned with the calcium side of endocrinology. Endocrinologists in my local area seem to not take me seriously.

Well, I wish i could tell you about Dr Mannstadts quality of care. Someone who claims to specialize in such a rare condition, hypoparathyroidism has an awfully odd way of accepting patients. He will not take a clinical referral from my doctors locally (i live 8 hrs away) but they want me to get a primary care doctor at Massachusetts general hospital and to have THEM refer me. I'm like I have 2 endocrinologist, an orthopedic, geneticist and my primary care at a world renowned institution here that will refer me but that is not enough!
