Just to begin, I will not dignify this person with the title of Doctor. Michael McKinney became my PCP when my long time PCP retired. I did not choose him but was transferred to him. The first time I met him I found him to make little eye contact (only looking at the computer unless he HAD to look at me) and be rather detached and reticent. I wasn't overly concerned as I was 60ish and in good health, not needing more than an annual check up, one prescription and someplace for other test results to be compiled. This last year has changed that. The communication from this office/PCP is dismal. I have had to call to ask that they respond to requests for prescription refills. Most recently during the process of a sleep study and consequently CPAP machine, I was NEVER contacted by the PCP or even a nurse with the information of the final test. Only when I was contacted by the machine provider was I informed of the results. I am changing PCP today and strongly suggest to NOT use this PCP.

Dr McKinney was one of the best primary care physicians my family has ever seen - and was able to balance empathy with high-level medical knowledge in a way I've not seen with other primary Care docs in Santa Fe. We love him!

I have am adult son with a learning disability. I attend all of his physicals. This was the moist incompetent doctor I have ever encountered......period. I have lived in two foreign countries. He is at the bottom of the barrel no matter which country. My son is a colorectal cancer survivor. My son is 47. He never looked at his genitals or his ostomy. No compassion, no caring, and worse, little knowledge. My guess is that he got his license to practice somewhere on a Caribbean island where you only have to pay for a license. Please look at all of the other low scores left by patients. We can't all be wrong.

Dr. McKinney should not be practicing medicine. He's either not ready or he does not care. I became a patient because my PCP of many years retired. First annual physical exam: I had to ask him to do the manual prostate exam (he was reluctant, gave some vague reason). Second exam: yawning and staring almost continuously to the e-chart, pulling out phone app to look up information, and, most importantly, he did not touch me once (physical exam?). I'll be searching for a new PCP.

After more than 15 visits for specific issues ranging from infection to knee pain to diabetes to cancer he NEVER asked questions or bothered to check my feet re neuropathy. His answer was we can discuss next time or offered a referral to a specialist. I am changing doctors. Scheduling is a joke. Callbacks do not happen. He has a lot of people fooled! He came highly praised by hospital staff. He works there! Baloney. Do not take even your sick goat!

I was told that after the sleep study that was prescribed by him. that He said I needed to see him right after the study. When I saw him 3 days later he said there was nothing to do without the sleep info. When I asked for help I was given a number who gave me another number who said The sleep study group sent and faxed results on the Nov 29th. On Dec. 2 I called the cpap company and they were still waiting for the prescription. They sent inadequate info so I have to wait 5 more days.

I went in for a physical and to get something checked out. I had to remind him I wanted a physical after he addressed my other concern. He did close to nothing, said I look fine, and that young men are generally healthy. I went to another doctor where I learned I have metabolic syndrome, meaning I am at risk of heart disease if I don't make changes. It's been almost a year, and I am still dealing with billing issues for a $25 copay that I did not have to pay with my insurance. Ridiculous
