Cross contamination and rude
Walked out of office as the floor and equipment had bloody gauze from previous patient. When I asked the med tech to clean she dismissively told me that they don’t use the cord that was touching the blood for the procedure. I insisted she clean it and she said she would before the procedure. The doctor then entered and went to grab the cross contaminated cord. As he did I told him about the cross contamination and to please clean it and clean his hands before touching the patient. The doctor then says to me ‘ don’t get so worked up about it.’ Then the doctor says what he seems to think is funny ‘I was gonna spit in my hands too and rub it into his wound.’ Then proceeds with contaminated hands to smack me on the shoulder. At this point my husband the patient gets up and says we are leaving you will not treat us like this. It was pure disregard for the 1st and most important rule in the medical world. Wash your hands! Protect the patient!

Patient, Thorough, Compassionate, and Competent
I was seen by Dr Murchland last week and I am thoroughly impressed. He took great pains to explain the various treatment options thoroughly. He put my interests first, ultimately agreeing on the one that was best for me; though probably the worst for his pocket book. I had been diagnosed with a squamous cell lesion on my scalp. I was apprehensive going is since this was my first time seeing him; the biopsy had been performed in another office. [How will he know how much to remove? Will I end up with a divot in my bald scalp like so many other old Irish guys? etc.] He reviewed my chart and the lesion, offering me three options - freezing, topical chemotherapy, and Mohs surgery - carefully explaining the pros and cons of each. We went with chemo to take care of the current lesion but also to deal with any latent lesions. He steered me to the chemo as best for my situation. He'd have been able to bill more with the freeze (probably) or with the surgery (definitely). Respect!

Dr. Murchland loves to spend time with his patients. He's a talker but he will remember everything you talked about the last time you were in - even if it was 3 years ago. It's clear he's highly knowledgeable about what he does and is truly there for the patients and not the money Sure, you end up waiting a good chunk of time in the office before you see him (he's always behind just given how much time he spends with his patients) but I'd rather he was attentive and behind than super brief.

Highly recommend finding another Dr unless you like waiting in the office for over an hour! Very unprofessional.
