Dr. Phelps failed badly. I posted this review back in 2020 but never followed up on the update of what followed. My original review stated "I felt as though I got "bushwhacked" when I went in for a Dr. recommended console. He was rude, condescending, had no time for me and really didn't care. he tossed my papers on the exam table and just walked out of the room. I was totally confused. I had never imagined a so-called Dr. could be so heartless. DO NOT GO TO THIS PERSON! You will be wasting your time and apparently his." Well the update is I went to the University of Iowa cancer center and was found to have; "Operation/Procedure: distal gastrectomy, lymph node dissection Postoperative Diagnosis: * Neuroendocrine malignancy (HCC) [C7A.8] . They removed 3/4 of my stomach and I spent 9 days in the U of I hospital. Jump forward and I lost over 50 lbs. but doing well overall. Just makes me wonder why Dr.Phelps was so detached from me as a patient.

Dr. Phelps squeezed my emergency appendectomy in after a long day of work. He was kind and very factual with his information and answered all of my questions. I appreciated his skills.

Extremely rude, condescending . Had an attitude he should have checked at the door. I was afraid to have surgery and he got nasty with me and belligerent instead of showing any compassion. His bed side manner is appalling. I will find another surgeon!!

As a first time doctor-patient consultation, I was humiliated when Dr. Phelps told me to pull my pants down in front of him, then get on the examination table for the exam to be conducted. I expressed to him and the assisting nurse that I was confused and not comfortable with this procedure, Dr. Phelps responded "Or I can cut a hole in your pants to conduct the exam". Dr. Phelps is very unprofessional and uncaring about the comfort level of his patients, especially first time patients.
