Confusing processes and operations
Just needed a follow up colonoscopy for a surgery I had. Waited 6 weeks to be scheduled then had different people tell me to call other offices and schedule myself and that I was confused about what they tell their patients. Would recommend finding an office that supports their patients better and is clear about the process to get procedures done.

After seeking a second opinion from a different GI doctor, it became clear that I had been misdiagnosed by Dr. Shim. My initial encounter with him, which included an upper endoscopy, left much to be desired. During our appointments, Dr. Shim's communication was notably lacking, and this trend continued on the day of the procedure. He swiftly provided me with a diagnosis without offering much explanation and left without addressing my concerns. This diagnosis was quite serious, and to my disappointment, his office and nurse later repeated the same vague information without any further clarification. The burden of gathering essential information about my condition largely fell on my primary care physician. When my symptoms failed to improve and I reached out to Dr. Shim's office for guidance, I was met with a disappointing response. Two of his nurses merely advised me to continue taking the same medication I had been on since the beginning, which offered no new insights or solutions. Upon conducting further research and consulting with my new GI specialist, it became evident that Dr. Shim had failed to provide adequate guidance before the endoscopy. He had also based his diagnosis on a single criterion, disregarding the need for a comprehensive assessment. My overall experience with Dr. Shim and his team left me feeling dismissed and dissatisfied.

Dr. Shim has given me 2 colonoscopy procedures and is the best Doctor of Gastroenterology I have been to. I had no pain afterwards and he was diligent about finding polyps that were left by previous doctors. I highly recommend him, he is very conscientious

I came to his office thinking needed my throat switched and he surprised me.I do not need my throat stretched. He put me on a diet called the lowFODmapp diet which corrected my digestion and corrected my irritable bowel syndrome. He is a true humanitarian. His goal is in the best interest of the patient first. I highly recommend him.
