My Kind of Doctor!
I was very IMPRESSED with Dr. Soltero's 'bedside manner!' This man is in a class by himself! He didn't 'rush' through my appointment, answered my questions and treated me like family. We're both 'baby boomers,' and that also makes a difference. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Soltero. I even contacted my primary care physician and advised her to ALWAYS recommend him regarding referrals as well!

I’m 37 years old and recently underwent an aortic valve replacement due to a heart defect—something I was genuinely terrified about. However, meeting with Dr. Soltero immediately put me at ease. He took the time to answer all my questions, ensuring I fully understood the procedure. He also explained the pros and cons of both biological and mechanical valves, which helped me make an informed decision. I ultimately chose the mechanical valve to avoid future surgeries. On the day of the surgery, I felt surprisingly calm, knowing I was in the hands of Dr. Soltero and his skilled team. The procedure went smoothly, and my recovery has been just as positive. I was discharged after four days and, incredibly, was walking a mile just a week after open-heart surgery. Now, a month later, while I’m still healing, everything has been progressing smoothly. I’m beyond grateful that this was a fixable issue, and I can’t thank Dr. Soltero enough for improving my quality of life.

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say.
Dr. Soltero did my dad's valve surgery and I have nothing good to say. He provided terrible care overall, including the team at Henry Mayo Hospital. Both his care and all of the other doctors and staff there were horrible. Dr. Soltera subjected my dad to 3 surgeries after his open heart surgery without telling us why my dad's chest wall kept getting infected. We later changed his care and learned that it was because he failed to remove the 4-6 wires completely even though he knew they kept getting infected. My dad's health kept deteriorating and it did not until we changed his care from Dr. Soltero and the other Henry Mayo Hospital doctors. He should be practicing medicine because he clearly falls below the standard of care for his patients. I would not want him to operate anyone I know. Please stay informed and seek care elsewhere.

Dr Soltero replaced my aorta and mitral valve and sheathed my aorta in 98 in a very remarkable surgery that would still be difficult today. Amazing job...
