Dr. Michael Sy, MD

His ONLY training is UCI - Student, Resident and now Practitioner. Dr Sy is a very pleasant gentleman, but as a multiple sclerosis specialist he is ill-equipped with NO exposure to leading-edge Education or Training. UCI’s Multiple Sclerosis Practice does not qualify as a Center of Excellence. At best it is handful of very weak doctors.

Everyone was wonderful from check in, RN, providers, check out.

Dr . Sy is great.He takes the time to listen and explain. I would refer him if someone asked about a Dr. in his specialty.

As someone with a not-so-common disease, it was difficult to get a specialist who knew how to help me. I had reached the bottom, searching for medical help. UCI has been a godsend. Not only did I get the medications I needed, but I also received a ton of empathy and support. For that money can't pay for, and UCI has been an absolute standout in that regard. I am so pleased to have been under Dr. Sy's care for the last couple of years. I don't know what I would do without UCI.

Yes, I'd like to give a feedback for Dr. Sy. He's actually really, really a slow speaker at the point where if someone is not a senior citizen and, you know, very good hearing, I can't even hear him. So I was with my mom, she has a hearing problem, I'm pretty much normal. I could not even hear Dr. Sy, whatever diagnosis he was saying. And I mentioned to him, "you have got to speak louder". He just mumbled. We can't have a doctor mumble to a patient. Please address that to him. I've told that to him so many times, but we cannot understand whatever he's saying. We wait six months to see him, and he just mumbles in the office and goes out. So he doesn't speak loud enough for the patient, especially the senior citizen patients. I need to hear him. He just talks

Regarding the provider's hand washing; there was no physical exam performed this day, so the answer is N/A. The office is frazzled right now because they are looking for a nurse navigator. Communication with the office is really difficult and frustrating for that reason. I really like this doctor and the staff is always nice. I really hope that hiring the new nurse navigator fixes the communication problem. With the quick turn around of nurse navigators, communication has been difficult for almost a year. I know that the neurology department is overwhelmed, so I'm trying to be patient. Thanks.

I had to wait one hour and a half and the Dr did not even apologize for the delay. A woman came in with him and sat down at the computer without introducing herself so I had NO IDEA who this person was. Very rude as was whispering to the doctor about my labs and when I asked what are you talking about Dr Sy responded that my labs were ok. I would perfer that Dr. Sy explain my labs with me when I ask about them. I felt disappointed with this visit. I felt Dr Sy was overwhelmed, tired or needing to eat lunch.

Dr. Sy and Michael (the NP) were great. The MA was helpful as well. The only constructive feedback would be: it will take more than 5 months to see both providers again.

Dr. Michael Sy continues to be a godsend to me as I navigate MS. He is unusually kind, informed, professional, and optimistic. Also, the Nurse Practitioner, Andrew Bierman, was particularly helpful and informative for me this time.

Dr Sy and his NP/PA had a great deal of knowledge about my unisial medical condition. They both do an amazing job. Thank you.

I was supposed to get my Lumber puncture for diagnosis done in August. The nurse {staff name removed} never replied my message asking about the procedure on my chart. And on my appointment day Dr. Sy was looking for my result. Knowing that my appointments with this Dr, would be at least every six month. So my time was just wasted.

I had a terrible non-verbal episode & the nurse was so incredibly kind & professional. Caring like that to a patient like myself means the world to patients. I told her supervisor & the also the supervisor in the front. They were so helpful. Very understanding medical team, I'm grateful. Dr. Sy has such a wonderful bedside manner & listens. I can see why it's hard to get in for an appt. He's marvelous.

Very friendly and comfortable environment.

They should have checked with me who was my pharmacy to prescribe my medication. They scheduled me to pick it up at a wrong place.

First I met with Andrew the nurse practitioner, who was friendly and thoroughly answered my questions, while waiting for Dr. Sy who was running behind. Dr. Sy was also thorough and took his time with me, despite running behind. Thanks!
