Phenomenal! Seven stars if I could!
Dr Tanaka reconstructed my knee, and I wouldn’t have gone to anyone but her! The level of care set and her team provides is above and beyond. No question was too silly or repetitive, she fully acknowledged the pain I have suffered for the past 5 years and was able to see past my connective tissue disorder (the symptoms of that had masked the structural issues in my knee). She was incredibly thorough, during every appointment, and she took care of YEARS worth of damage with one surgery so I won’t need more. Her bedside manner is amazing and I am so happy she is the one who operated on me. I’m able to pursue my athletic career thanks to her work. Also shout out to Jordon! She’s phenomenal at what she does and always a delight to talk with!

Dr Tanaka and her team are highly professional and responsive. My recovery and monitoring of my progress for return to sports has been superior. Dr Tanaka explained the surgery and the recovery period throughly to me, her team has a very high touch. During Covid they maintained superior connections with me and made sure I stayed on track.

I twisted my knee just before everything shut down due to COVID and was miserably limping around. I was very lucky to be able to schedule a virtual appointment with Dr. Tanaka. She helped diagnose my problem and arrange for first virtual and then in-person rehab. Because I am close to 60 and have underlying arthritis it was unclear whether surgery would be helpful and she clearly explained all of my options . I ended up having the surgery. I am now pain free and able to get back to my active life!! Throughout all of this she was incredibly kind and took the time to give me all the information I needed to make a decision . Her office staff is wonderfully efficient and Kylynn Kane her athletic trainer is a marvel. Am very grateful to have her as my surgeon!!

Hands down one of the best medical communicators I've ever had to deal with. Doesn't try to talk you into procedures but clearly lays out the options and takes the time to answer questions clearly. Actual procedures I had done were quick and effective.

Dr. Tanaka & her staff were very friendly and professional. I went to her for a 2nd opinion on my knee and was immediately impressed by her knowledge and compassion. She and her assistant, Kylynn, were also very attentive and responded to any of my questions - and i ask a lot of questions! They helped calm any nerves and provided me with realistic expectations and timelines as I evaluated my surgical and rehab options. I felt comfortable that they were providing me with honest and informative insight and advice. The surgery process went smoothly and they actually were able to move my surgery date up as I decided to complete it early to end my continual pain. They provided helpful post-surgical resources, feedback, and encouragement as I rehabbed my knee. While I hope I won't have to return for additional surgery in the future, I know I'll be in good hands with the MGH Sports Team. Thanks!

I was not impressed with Dr Tanaka. I arrived for my visit and waited at least 45 minutes before I was told the doctor had to leave and I would have to reschedule. When I tried to reschedule the office tried to schedule me with a PA. I insisted on seeing Dr. Tanaka for a sports injury I had to my right leg. When she finally came in the room she took one look at me and said she doesn't treat arthritis. This was said before she even examined me. Talk about judging people by age! Her bedside manner was quite cold.

She stiched my meniscus to a nerve. I've developed chronic pain since then. I saw another doctor who said my meniscus was never even fixable. My pain and function are so much worse after visiting her. I would not recommend Dr Tanaka.

Dr. Tanaka and her entire team were wonderful from my first appointment through my final follow-up after my surgery. Dr. Tanaka worked with me and helped me choose the right treatment options at the right time. I was always comfortable in her care and felt she listened to me and took my concerns seriously. If I have more problems in the future, I know who I will be seeing!

Dr. tanaka was amazing throughout my surgery process. She talked me through everything and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The staff at the office were always so accommodating and helpful. I never waited long to get an appointment or in the waiting room. Danielle was always so helpful and always got back to me as soon as she could. This experience was great. Surgery was perfect and I am back to my daily activity plus more. Dr. Tanaka and her whole team have been fabulous.

Dr. Tanaka and her staff are wonderful! After almost a year of pain, I can say that I can see a full recovery in my future. Dr. Tanaka's approach of trying the least invasive procedures first, then proceeding to the least invasive surgery really made me comfortable in trusting her fully. Hopefully I won't need any orthopedic doctor's services in the future, but if I do, she's the only one I will call.

I did not want to have surgery, but when I met Dr. Tanaka, her calm, reassuring demeanor changed my mind. Not for one minute, even the day after surgery, have I regretted that decision. It has been wonderful returning to leading a normal life again and doing all the things I was incapable of doing before surgery. I am already recommending her to people and will continue whenever the situation arises. Thank you so, so much. You and your entire staff are truly the best!

Dr. Tanaka is nothing short of terrific! Every visit she listened to any and all symptoms I was experiencing (torn meniscus), cared about them & explained why/what could be causing that symptom. She took time to learn about previous athletic activities & managed expectations on when & what I had to do to return. When moving toward surgery she explained everything that would happen pre & post-op thoroughly and the outcomes I could see. She nailed the surgery and gave me the BEST outcome!!

I had a wonderful experience getting medical care from Dr. Tanaka. She is very experienced and knowledgeable about injuries among female athletes, so I was reassured that she would understand my goals for getting back to my sport and level of exercise. Her staff was patient and answered my questions thoroughly, and helped me figure out scheduling issues.
