Very uncomfortable for her attitude !
Tell us that you don't need to come to the Sloan. She seems don't want to try any new treatment options and tell us, just need to make the patient comfortable. What a joke ! by Chemo ?

Awful
Rushed through appointment. Was annoyed with any questions that were asked. Horrible bedside manner. Knowledge base questionable. A very arrogant insensitive individual. Very uncaring especially given that this provider is dealing with patients with serious medical conditions. She would not discuss results until the patient physically showed up so that the charges for a visit could be made. However given a two week wait time, my mother could have suffered serious consequences for her negligence.

Dr. Gorsky Cares Deeply
Dr. Gorsky has been my oncologist for the past year at MSK CC in Basking Ridge. She, and her nurse, Heather care deeply about their patients. Dr. Gorsky is a very kind woman and wants the best outcome for her patients. She took a few visits to understand her style and her dry wit sense of humor, but it is there.

Knowledgeable but no consideration for her patient
Dr introduced herself, said treatment would be chemo but wasn't sure if it would work. Offered no suggestions to make treatment easier, I learned later there were supplemental treatment like acupuncture, marijuana, biofeedback. Also some of the literature her nurse provided was obsolete. Example: There was a list of stores that carried wigs. We drove to one that was closed and by the condition of the building and parking lot; may have been closed for months to possibly years. I had unrelenting nausea. Every conversation with nurse was the same. Here are meds, sorry, we hoped you'd do better. After my 7th weekly treatment with no suggestions or changes to help me, her words sounded hollow. I found another facility and completed the 18 weeks of treatment. That's 4 1/2 months, needed empathy, this Dr and her nurse had none. Chemo nurses were wonderful, was sorry to leave them.

Wow- I’m shocked by some of the comments here. I met with Dr. Gorsky to get a second opinion re: my proposed chemo treatment plan. She spent over an hour with me, reviewing in detail exactly what she would recommend for me and why. I had many questions, and she was very patient with me, addressing all of them. She is direct, but I appreciate that! I was very impressed by her credentials, her experience (which was demonstrated through our conversation) and the way she really she listened to me throughout our meeting. I would definitely recommend Dr. Gorsky.

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Gorsky was bad. It seemed to me that she never had time to just sit down and explain things to me so I could understand. She was always in a rush. Five minutes and done, straight to the chemo room. I don't know if the MSKCC in NJ is just putting too much pressure on the doctor in terms of how much time per patient she can spend. But, if feels like a processing facility. Get there, get the blood work done, looks ok? Yes, then Gorsky sings and you go into the chemo processing facility. No, then Gorsky doesn't sign and you go home. There is just no human contact, no empathy, nothing. Cancer is very hard, all those drugs are very difficult to tolerate so at least make me feel good. Not with this doctor. I left the MSKCC after finishing my chemo. I just can't recommend her.

Well my experience was very different from the reviews I had read. I greatly appreciated her direct manner. She was honest, respectful and caring. Her credentials are amazing and I appreciate the immense effort she puts on herself to do the best for her patients. I did not need the situation to be sugarcoated. cancer care is a journey and not a fun one. I wanted to know what a premier institution like MSK would do for me. She fit the bill! I only regret that she is at a distance from me, but I am taking her knowledge and recommendations with me and should I run into difficulty she will be my go to. I do agree that her nurse Heather is terrific as was Danielle, who I believe manages the behind the scenes. The people of NJ are most fortunate to have these experts there for our health. Let’s be grateful!

I cannot imagine a doctor having poorer bedside manner than Mila Gorsky. She made having cancer harder and even more miserable. I switched doctors after 8 months and I regret not switching earlier. Do not subject yourself to this doctor.

Impatient and disrespectful towards her patients and caregivers! Doesn't like questions; she will roll her eyes at you. Cancer is already a hard enough diagnosis for everyone involved and Dr. Gorsky makes the experience even harder. Appts have been cancelled a day before b/c doc is not in office.

Her nurse Heather is great. None of us like meeting Gorksy, at all. She’s cold, talks fast, talks down, and doesn’t even pretend to care about the patient.

Horrible, lazy, and insensitive. I am sure the the lack of urgency from her and her team led to my parent's death much sooner than it should have been. MSKCC is nothing but a name, with doctors who have lost sight of proper care standards. I am left with horrible memories. Thank you for nothing.

Pathetic. – Apr 07, 2020
×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Gorsky?
We did not have good experience at all. My mother, who is Ovarian cancer survivor, did not see much attention from doctor Gorsky. She shows no compassion or interest in her patients. We also noticed that doctor is never available, as if she is running a practice elsewhere and is only at Sloan Kettering limited time. Recently my mother's periodic blood test results came out with large differential in cancer marker. Any doctor would at least call to discuss or reviewed it during appointment. Not a chance! Doctor Gorsky did not even bring it to our attention and we were terrified to read about it online. We are thinking of potentially selecting oncologist outside of Sloan Kettering, since all experienced doctors, who observed my mother or performed surgery, appear to have left the hospital. Most doctors we saw recently have little experience and even those doctors appear to have left. It is very sad. Sloan Kettering quality is not what it used to be.

I found Dr. Gorsky to be patient, attentive, thorough, and concerned. If you are looking for warm and fuzzy, you may miss her caring nature, but she is very good at what she does. My husband called her straight with no chaser :)! I liked her and would have no issues in recommending her to others and trusting her expertise.

Dr. Gorsky treated me for 5 years. She is a skilled and highly knowledgeable physician who pays attention to patients' feelings during chemotherapy. I recommend her to potential patients choosing MSK's Basking Ridge facility for treatment. To me, wait time seems irrelevant for an oncologist in a hospital practice. Patients undergoing active cancer treatment require more, less, or even unscheduled time, depending on the severity and urgency of their needs. If you need more time, you will get it.

Love love love my Dr Gorsky. She has been both my sister and my oncologist for the last 7 years. Answers all my questions, thinks outside of the box as I do and is extremely knowledgeable about breast cancer. As a stage 4 patient, her compassion and care is wonderful towards me. My husband says that she almost makes it feel like a social visit and not like I'm a terminal patient. This woman has held me when I've cried, and cheered me on when I've done my crazy bucket list items.

We did not get any warm and fuzzy feeling from Dr. Gorsky. When we asked her questions she kept putting the questions off until later. We did get a second opinion which was the same as hers so I believe her medical advice seemed to be right. Her staff was A+ but it is sad when you would rather talk to the staff instead of the Doc.

I can not negatively or positively comment on her credentials or knowledge of her subject matter. I can tell you that she is not warm, she is not a good communicator, and she has no patience for questions. As far as a patient's advocate, I would not opine that this is her strength.

I do not feel she is an advocate for her patients. It seems the outlying treatment centers for Memorial Sloan Kettering get the junior varsity doctors as staff, and I am not confident she will seek to get me the best course of treatment. The nurses are wonderful- they really should replace her.
