Dr. Miranda Balkin, MD

I cannot stress enough how much I do not recommend this doctor. The appointment was canceled and rescheduled 3 times, once an hour before it was scheduled. She was not caring and spoke to me very condescendingly. I didn’t get the help I needed and left the appointment feeling worse.

Im fortunate to be a patient of Dr Balkin. I find her to be a great listener and is truly concerned.

I emailed Dr. Balkin to review bloodwork ordered by another specialist because it raised concerns within her purview. She responded quickly and set up an appointment. At that time we discussed my situation in detail and she developed a game plan to improve things. She is an excellent listener and clearly explains her thinking. She is a real pro.

She does not care what the patient is going through, does not flex when she can and speaks to you like a child. I would not choose her if she was the last doctor on the planet.

In my personal experience, Miranda Balkin has consistently made it very difficult to get any actual care at this office. I switched here due to the focus on trans health pretty much as soon as she got to Cooley, and my experience has been so frustrating and miserable and lacking. Sadly would not recommend. Hoping someone else at their offices is even just a little better.

Dr. Balkin is an amazing professional. I was concerned about finding good care since my move from Boston, but she provides such excellent services. She listens carefully and has helpful insights. I like her approach of considering emotional and mental health when treating physical conditions. She is very responsive to messages and has gently supported me through some frightening diagnoses. I’m a big fan.

I travel from East Longmeadow to Northampton to see Dr. Balkin as my PCP and she is well worth the travel. Because of that distance, I have used Telehealth and the Portal a great deal. She responds to portal messages within 24 hours, and I am thrilled to have her to myself during Telehealth. Dr. Balkin is professional, knowledgeable, and caring. She remembers what is going on in my personal life which often greatly affects my health. She answers all questions I have and gives me time for my appointment without rushing. Additionally, she calms me down. (I often have to have a second blood pressure reading with her because the first was high.) On several occasions, Dr. Balkin has advised me that a supplement or pain reliever I have been taking could have negative affects on my health. On all such occasions, she did not tell me what to do but left the decision to me ... and I stopped the supplement or pain reliever. She is the right PCP for me to help me manage my care.

Dr Balkin is super knowledgeable, thoughtful and always takes the time to make sure I’ve got everything I need. I never feel rushed or judged by her and I appreciate her calm and friendly demeanor. She is very timely in responding to messages or filling prescriptions when I need them which puts my mind at ease!

Dr Balkin doesn't listen and doesn't do anything except if you get another doctor involved and it is a power trip with the other doctor. I've never met someone so self centered under the guise of caring. She refuses to get prior authorizations for things which ended up costing me thousands out of pocket.

Appointment was efficient and Dr. Balkin was excellent listening to my concerns and helping and guiding my next steps. I would certainly recommend her!

Dr. Balkin took the time to carefully listen and input medical information to my file. The appointment was not rushed, and she made time for any additional questions I may have.

Dr Balkin was very attentive and listened to my concerns. She was kind, genuinely caring, and offered realistic options for follow-up care. Her staff was pleasant and courteous as well. I would highly recommend her as a primary care provider.

I had a new patient visit with Dr Balkin recently. I had several concerns to review with her going into the appointment, and we were able to get to everything without feeling rushed. In the past, I’ve had trouble with doctors who have acted biased/sexist or arrogant/dismissive, and it was important to me to find a new doctor who was feminist, lgbtq friendly, and that I trusted and felt comfortable with. Dr. Balkin fit the bill—she was a great listener and calming presence during our appointment.

Refused to refer me for procedures, screenings, and to specialists I needed to see due to my disease, and brushed my symptoms off as anxiety and allergies when it was actually a serious condition related to my disease. Wouldn’t even acknowledge that I do in fact I have the disease I was diagnosed with and brushed of my family history of this disease and related diseases. She put me in danger, and should no longer be allowed to practice.

I was seen by the doctor timely. I was treated in a professional manner. My particular health care needs were discussed in a pleasant and non judgmental manner and then addressed. Great job!

Dr.Balkin listens and is respectful. She is kind. Unlike almost every other doctor I've seen she never makes me feel bad or guilty. I'm so grateful to have found her. I've gone to her for annual physicals, as well as, more specific concerns.

Dr. Balkin is an excellent listener who exudes reassuring confidence in her practice while at same time remaining sympathetic and open to her patients’ take on things which may sometimes differ from her own.
