I have been with Dr. Barakat for over 20 years. That in itself should say a lot about her and her staff. She is very patient when it comes to explaining exactly what is going on with your body, and how it will affect your life going forward. She worked with me to find just the right medication to slow down my RA so that I could function in both work and home life. She is an excellent doctor and I plan to stay with her for as long as I can. She has a staff member by the name of Amber that has been with her longer than I have. Amber is so kind and caring, and it is always a pleasure to see her. I fully recommend Dr. Barakat to everyone.

Dr. Barakat is a true life saver
I really appreciate this doctor. I have two autoimmune diseases (Vasculitis and Prurigo Nodularis). She has improved the quality of my life ten fold. She is always very pleasant and reassuring. She listens to what I say.

I have been seeing Dr. Barakat for a few years now. After reading the reviews, I must agree, she is the best. She goes beyond just being your doctor. She truly cares about her patients. Her staff has always gone out of their to assist with whatever needs you may have. I dont mind the wait times. She is well worth the wait.

Dr Barakat's staff was informed in writing I was a hearing impaired senior veteran and was given the number of my care giver to contact if necessary. Her office staff ignored the notice and instead called and left voicemails for a hearing impaired individual shortly prior the to my appointment scheduled for 9:30 the following morning. Two later voicemails were left approximately 5 and 1/2 hours after the initial one. I use my phone for texting and email but obviously not voice. I was unaware I was called until later that day when my care giver reviewed the THREE voice mail messages left me by Dr Barakat's office, a hearing impaired patient. The voicemail said I had 4 hours to confirm my appointment or it would be canceled which they did. My care provider was finally called two hours after they canceled my appointment and refused to see me the next day despite their negligence. Thir next appointment, another 2 months. In pain, I found a caring Dr. and suggest you do the same.

I must echo the sentiments of an earlier review. Dr. Barakat is not only a very knowledgeable and competent rheumatologist, but she also looks at the entire person, not just her specialty. She noticed an unusual trend in my labs and, on her suggestion, a visit to a specialist confirmed a rare blood cancer for which I am now being treated. I wish all my physicians were so vigilant.

Dr. Mirna Barakat is such an awesome, caring doctor. She does thorough exams and talks to you about your overall lifestyle and health. She spends as much time with you as needed and I never feel rushed. Her staff, especially her PA, Wallace, are all so professional yet friendly and go out of their way to assist you. Her waiting room is usually full and sometimes the wait can be long but that’s because she spends individual time with every patient. However, she’s definitely worth the wait.

I have been seeing Dr Barakat every 3 months for 10 years. I have always been treated with kindness and respect and as though she is interested in me as a person, not just in how my chronic disease affects my body. I live an unusual nomadic lifestyle, and she has gone out of her way to help me learn to manage my disease while still living the lifestyle I love. She is smart and really careful. Twice she has caught problems (not within her specialty area) that my primary care MD missed.

Dr. Barakat is one of the most caring & compassionate doctors that I know. You may have to wait longer at her office than you would at other doctor's offices but she truly spends quality time with each of her patients. During your visit with her you will receive her undivided attention. She is not a doctor that just sits & types on a computer while you are trying to explain how you feel. She will address your concerns and take the time to answer any questions that you may have. She's awesome!

Since I started coming to Dr. Barakat I've seen 3 front office staff changes. Recently, when I ran out of my meds, myself and the pharmacist called and I did not receive a returned call of a problem I experienced nor did the pharmacist for my refills. Although, I would have given 5 stars for my medical treatment, I'm going to have to change that for the neglect of my medical care in recent attempts of contacting her.
