Dr. Misty Embrey, MD

I have found Dr. Embrey to be a knowledgeable, kind, caring and intuitive Provider. She is a good listener and worked closely with me on a treatment plan that included homeopathy and alternative methods. She is open to new ideas beyond traditional Western Medicine and treating just the physical body.

Dr. Embrey has listened to my preferences and needs as a patient and as a person. She's helped curb side effects from a medicine I thought I would never be able to discontinue through diligent trial and error with various new medications. Introduction of non-Western medicine has been surprisingly effective.

We put together hours of medical records and filled out her questionnaire, had a two-hour meeting in which no individual evaluation of our child took place, received feedback that didn't seem to reflect details in our submitted documents, nor did the opinions match our child's age appropriate treatment or issues, and got a less than one-page after-appointment brief that seemed to be copied from another child's appointment with minimal applicability to our child. Homeopathy is a great solution, but it still needs direction and monitoring and you'd think this doctor with years of experience would be able to guide her patient's through this, but we got no impression that this was the case. She just wanted more money to give us more non-applicable or obscure advice and to send more articles to justify homeopathy, which we already supported.

Dr. Embrey was very thorough in her initial evaluation. She is compassionate and committed to employing a range of approaches to treating patient concerns. Well worth considering as an integrative psychiatry provider.

Dr Embrey treated my for insomnia. I found the therapy sessions extremely helpful, and the natural remedy she prescribed was effective.

After months of chronic stressors, I met with Dr. Embrey because I was seeking relief from anxiety and mild depression. During my initial consultation we discussed my physical and emotional health history, and reviewed my current labs. From there she suggested a specific protocol. Her follow up email to me and session summary really impressed me. She sent me organized, detailed instructions for the protocol, as well as informative articles to educate myself. Dr. Embrey is clearly a very caring doctor, well versed in integrative medicine to help her patients find the best outcome. I recommend her and the GW Center for Integrative Medicine. Their doctors and staff are fantastic!

I find Dr Embrey to be a perfect balance of warmth and professional expertise, which makes it easy to be in her presence. She listens intently, and uses the information given on the (requested pre-session) forms to guide and inform our sessions. She is highly intuitive, wise, respectful, and caring. I feel that I am being held in good, strong hands under her care.

Dr. Embry is an excellent physician. As a homeopathic practitioner myself, I was looking for someone to find my constitutional remedy which is not easy since there are dozens of possible remedies. I found her to be thoughtful, smart, intuitive and humble and the intake process to be comprehensive. She had the patience to listen to my health concerns, asked the right questions, and knew how to navigate me in my journey of healing. Dr Embrey is able to strike a great balance between being caring, inquisitive, and compassionate while also being open, honest, and direct about her clinical opinion — a tough combination to find (and the best combination, in my opinion). I feel so comfortable and well-supported, and have total faith in her clinical expertise.
