Personable and Professional
I was referred to Dr Akman by my gp. Wait time was minimal. The receptionist and front office staff were through and friendly. Dr. Akman reviewed the health records that I brought and further explained the possible out comes. I felt that he was professional and personable.I would recommend Dr Akman.

Excellent Doctor
I have been having difficulty managing my blood sugar for years. Dr. Akman has done more for me in two visits over a nine week period than my previous doctors were able to do in more than ten years. He is extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, and experienced. He has been generous with his time and has been thorough during my examination and lab reviews. Dr. Akman has patiently listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I could not recommend him highly enough,

He was a good doctor but I had some copays that went into collections and without any warning, he dropped me as a patient. I wasn’t told to pay anything during visits cause another company deals with billing and when I tried to pay online, it wouldn’t let me because access code didn’t work. We are in a global pandemic and I’m going to have to find a new doctor now and it’s really stressing me out and my anxiety is through the roof. He talked me into a treatment a while back and need my thyroid hormones for the rest of my life and this happens. This is heartless, I could easily take care of collection payments but I fortune my, he won’t take anyone back who has gone into collections.

I saw Dr. Ackman this morning and my experience was completely opposite of the experiences of some others. Most importantly, I felt important, understood and properly diagnosed. Dr. Ackman was patient, courteous and he taught me things about my condition that I did not know. I appreciated the time spent with me and I will be returning for follow up. Perhaps my experience was different because I enter all medical appointments with a very open mind. I want to learn what role I can play in getting better. I can’t possibly know what many years of schooling and experience has taught my physicians. I was treated very kindly by all staff I encountered.

this guy is the worst of the worst. Arrogant, uncaring, terrible staff... assembly line practice and derogatory to patients. Unfortunate he is one of the only endos in town. All he does is prescribe... like so many other doctors these days, they offer no preventative advise..just meds, meds, and more meds... They really don't care about helping, only prescribing. Honestly I think that's all Western Medicine teaches any more. This guy is bad, believe me

I have a very complicated case, with multiple multi-systemic disorders and many medication. Dr. Akman was able to clearly answer several of my questions, and he obviously knew what he was talking about. A few of my questions were really tricky, because they had like 20 different factors, many of which were not endocrine. Dr. Akman admitted that he did not have a definitive answer. He then gave me some knowledge of how endocrine might affect it and suggestions for people that might have answers.

I got to find another dr. The short 5 to 10 min I spend with this doctor says alot for his patient care. I was told by him that he is not doing me any good, to find someone else. He is so right, he never checked for neuropathy, just gave me pills, referred me to diabetes clinic, which also doesnt provide much, but pamphlets. Of course both charged my insurance for little or no service.

Dr Akman was very professional and helpful. His office staff is quite a different story. When checking on the 1st visit, the lady was rude, the appointment day was set for the day after we were told. They were to set up training for diet, didn't do it. 2nd visit called to confirm, 2 weeks prior, then claimed she set appointment for hour earlier then we were told. She was very rude about this. My wife was happy to find Dr. Akman, but his staff, we will find another doctor.

I have put up with Dr. Akman's arrogance and rudeness for much too long. Reviews of Akman on this site serve to reinforce my own experience. Dr. Akman refuses to discuss any concerns you may have as he is the proverbial know it all. I have never experienced anyone in the medical field with the same degree of arrogance and lack of concern. I feel that he is at the burnout stage in his career--30 years with the same old variety of patients; he can no longer hide his impatience and irritability

Dr. Akman doesn't trust anyone other than himself. When I came in to receive care, he insisted I cease my current treatment to completely redo every test I had taken prior. At the same labs. Under the same conditions. He runs his Redding practice as if it was Community Service for a crime he committed. He is only available twice a month & rarely is available to field urgent issues, like actually filling the medications he prescribed. He is uneducated about his field & doesn't care about anybody.

The very worst Doctor I have seen in my life! From the moment he walked into the room he was arrogant and rude! He talked with a belittling tone, it was horrible. The entire time I was thinking wow this was a waste of time and money. He did not listen to anything I had to say. He said my primary care doc wasn't treating my illness incorrectly, and he said it snickering like it was funny! I would not take my Dog to see this man! To top off his ridiculous attitude he had a Orange Fake Spray Tan

Dr. Ackman misdiagnosed me, telling me that he was sure that a lump in my neck (discovered by my OBGYN during my pregnancy) was not cancer. He said I could have it removed for vanity purposes but that it was certainly benign. It turned out to be cancer. three years, a complete thyroidectomy and radiation treatments later, I am now treated by an endocrinologist who called ackman's misdiagnosis and lack of concern troubling. His nurse also proved to be Incompetent and rude. Go to Chico!
