Bait and switch
March 1, 2024 - Avoid Barawi. I am still trying to get him to release results from the colonoscopy performed at St. John Hospital on February 9. Couple problems: I never saw him. A resident did the procedure and said he removed 1 which did turn out to be poss pre-cancer…..and left 3 in because he said, “those are just hyperplastic and we don’t bother taking those out.” Exact words, spoken without even bothering to turn his head to look my way. Really? Because the point of a colonoscopy is to remove polyps, at least among board certified doctors. So, what’s the plan? Wait for my 7 year call back to see how those polyps ripen and grow? How about this? Give me my films like I keep asking so I can send them to a doc with ethics who will help me figure out how soon I need to chug another gallon of prep so they can clean up after Doogie Howser. Did I mention I felt kicked in the stomach for 3 days? Good luck with your Fellowship program, Dr. Barawi. I’ll be letting my insurance carrier know

Put on a good act
A few years ago he did a colonoscopy for my wife, he ruptured her spleen and almost bled to death. He was rude with no compassion, he treated her like she did something to him. He found polyps which he wasn’t able to take out because he ruptured her spleen. Today she has tested positive because he neglected her, and these polyps were not removed unknowing to us at the time. Now she is struggling and trying to fix what he should have then.

Dr. Barawi was polite, professional and knowledgeable. He was able to help me with my medical issue quickly and I was very satisfied with him as a doctor. Unfortunately his staff is comprised of the most rude, condescending and generally horrible people ever assembled on planet Earth. I would rather scoop out my own eye with a rusty spoon than deal with this assortment of arrogant, glorified secretaries.

After being diagnosed with Alchasia, I decided upon the endoscopic myotomy solution and got referred to Dr. Barawi. He was very skilled at explaining the procedure while setting my mind at ease too. Dr. Barawi performed a POEM (PerOral Endoscopic Myotomy) on me in June, 2017, and 6-mth follow-up diagnostic procedures which were very successful, no problems, no complications. I would rate Dr. Barawi, his skills, staff and surgical team as outstanding.
