Cut me off of my medication with zero warning after years of being on it. He demands I make an appointment for a refill after I already have ran out and I cannot play games with how impossible it is to get into the Cleveland Clinic in a timely manner. I was referred because he allegedly was equipped for LGBTQ patients, but that was not the case for me. He seemed to have no understanding of LGBTQ topics and needed me as the patient to educate him on pretty simple LGBTQ concepts. He’s a perfect fit for the Cleveland Clinic, both with disappoint and and disregard you- all that matters is profit!

Incompetent
Telehealth
Greedy man who instead of reaching out to request that I come in to get my medication refilled cuts me off cold turkey after years with all of ZERO warning whatsoever! Thanks a lot! Especially when the Cleveland Clinic is an absolute joke to make timely appointments with. Clearly didn’t understand the issues he claims to be sensitive in, as an LGBTQ person I felt like I had to hold his hand a lot more than professionally necessary, especially when I was referred there for his supposed sensitivity. Once again, unsurprising to nobody, the Cleveland Clinic shows it’s jaw dropping incompetent treatment, greed, and outright disregard. He makes a perfect fit as an unreliable doctor for an unreliable organization!

Five thumbs down
I agree with all other one star reviews. At times he can be extremely condescending, rude, quite unprofessional and lacking in empathy and compassion, poor bedside manner, makes contradictory statements. Find someone who treats you with the respect you deserve. Nice secretary.

I believe it would be wise to avoid this doctor. As I was in the room with him, his ruthless approach and persistent belittling remarks stressed and despaired me to the point that I minorly dissociated (zoned out/shut down my senses; it's a common stress response for my condition). Rather than comfort me or check on my well-being, he escalated the situation by calling the police on me and having me escorted (dragged, really) to the ER, where I was pink-slipped (prevented from leaving) despite my lucidity. I only needed a minute of peace and for him to ease off! Honestly, it seemed like a powerplay from someone who had been, seconds previously, butting heads with me & mocking me. I am still in a state of disbelief; never have I been treated like this before. How he is still practicing, I do not know. Please don't put yourself at his mercy. He is so rude & tactless that he will ask you deeply invasive questions within seconds of each-other, then openly mock you for not answering.

It was honestly the worst meeting I have ever had with a doctor. He has immediately decided what my diagnosis was and given he is an “LGBTQ” trainer physician I went to also deal with some of those issues. He directly asked me about my sexual activities and attempted to have me go into detail. Along with that he openly criticized me on my gender/sexuality/disability and more. I have never feared a physician more and the second trip I had to go to I ended up bringing people with me so I felt safe. I had to leave a review with the board of physicians given his horrendous behavior but it was “unsubstantiated” due to no one else seeing the interaction. Went to a new psychiatrist and never had the same issue.

Dr. Murat Altinay is a condescending, questionable practitioner. He claims to treat transgender patients, but he makes you feel belittled in a condescending manner. I saw bad reviews about him before starting therapy with him and decided to still give it a chance... This didn’t work out. I found it to be counterproductive and unprofessional - I do not recommend this doctor.

Whenever I told him the meds weren't working, he was more than happy to talk things out and explain what my options are. He always starts off with the low dose and then works his way up. Dude knows what he's doing. I've seen plenty of psychiatrists before. I've had to change plenty of times because all of my symptoms were brushed off as just being "moody" or "needing a change of attitude". He explains well what the medications do, and doesn't sign you up with overpriced name-brand meds. He doesn't like to waste time either, which I appreciate because I'm very busy. TLDR, He listens, he gives you the best prices, and explains what everything does and what to look out for.

Dr. Altinay is impatient, frustrated easily (which he has not learned to hide yet) and seemed put off by my mental status or questions. I repeatedly expressed that one of my meds were not working and he did nothing...over the time span of 3 appointments so that's like months. When I did bring someone to an appt with me, he appeared offended, his body language changed as well as his facial expressions. It was as if he wanted to leave the room. I no longer feel comfortable seeing him.
