SEVERE BREATHING PROBLEMS & FORCED TO WEAR A MASK
Can't breathe? Don't go to MVHS Pulmonary & Critical Care Group in Utica if you can't breathe with a mask on. 80 yrs old, COPD, 1 1/2 lungs, on oxygen 24/7...can't walk 5' on humid days without stopping to rest and catch her breath. MVHS Pulmonary & Critical Care at 35 Riverside Dr in Utica REFUSED to see my mom for a checkup ,that took us a month to get, because she would not put a mask on. A patient with SEVERE BREATHING PROBLEMS and her lung care specialists insist that she wears a mask that RESTRICTS HER BREATHING EVEN MORE. This isn't uncomfortable. This is life threatening. Wearing a mask increases her rapid breathing and stress, trying to get enough oxygen. She could stroke out at worst. I don't know if this REFUSAL OF SERVICE came from Dr. Namassivaya herself, a nurse practitioner, or who, but this is a very poor human and professional response. No alternatives were presented, for instance wear a face shield instead of a mask, or get a covid test before coming in...nothing.
