TERRIBLE TREATMENT OF ELDERLY PATIENTS
Dr. Councelbaum has been treating my father as if he's no more than a payment to process for the past several visits. Earlier this week, my father came in complaining that he has a serious problem with his hearing due an build up of ear wax. He asked if the staff could do an ear cleaning in the office. Instead, Dr. Councelbaum directed my 91 year old father to try over the counter ear drops. When he tried the eardrops, he lost his hearing entirely. Today, my father went in for a follow up because he's been deaf for 3 days. Instead of seeing this as an urgent matter, Dr. Councelbaum wrote a referral to a specialist. Today is FRIDAY and there's no guarantee of any kind of relief for at least 3 more days. How is this any way to treat an elderly patient? If you don't have empathy for the elderly, why would you call yourself a geriatric specialist?

avoid :)
I have been a patient of Dr. C for 4 years now. Getting an appointment is not difficult but the wait is horrible. Typical wait time in the waiting room is 45-60 min and an additional 30-40 min once you are placed in a room. Doctor is always rushed and asks repetitive questions that are already on the chart …. And realizes it as she goes through your chart in front of you… I understand that medicine is a business but I would strongly encourage both HOAG and Doctor C to respect others time.

Can't get worse than this
Horrible visit, the level of unprofessionalism is beyond imagination. Just here to charge you the money, that's all they are good for

Dr. Councelbaum was my doctor from June 2019 until February 2021. She is a very good doctor. She takes her time with each patient. That is why it is hard to make an appointment with her because she takes time to care for each patient. The only reason she is no longer my doctor is because I no longer live in Southern California. I do miss her.

I am so disappointed in Dr. Councelbaum. I went in for an unnecessary office visit and had to sit in a sick area all because she wouldn't tell me anything over the phone. I have had painful cough with pain in ears and throat. Throat was not swollen or even red, she insisted on giving me a strep test, of course that came back negative. She told me there wasn't anything wrong, to just get some extra rest and sent me home without any RX. The next night I was so sick and painfully coughing I had no choice to go into an ER. Which was emotionally devastating because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I got diagnosed with bronchitis and was given steroids, and inhaler and cough medication and I am feeling so so much better. Shame on you Dr. Councelbaum for not caring enough about me and rushing me out of your office after I put myself in danger in the "sick area room" your front office put me in. Please find another HOAG doctor as this one doesn't seem to really believe her patients.

I am extremely picky with my doctors and don't hesitate to change one when necessary. Dr Councelbaum has exceeded my expectations and probably saved my life by a recommendation she made to me.

I have been seeing Dr Councilbaum for many years. She is always very professional, always up to date on all my issues as I have rheumatoid arthritis and see other doctors. She monitors all incoming information and spends as much time with me as I need. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested.
