An Excellent Doctor!
Dr. Kahn has been my internist for about 12 years now, and she's always been wonderful: highly competent, thorough, and kind. My husband sees her, too, and she caught his arrhythmia in his annual physical and arranged for him to see a cardiologist immediately. When I came down with Covid in London, she took my off-hour call to advise me on whether I needed Paxlovid. When a visiting friend fell and injured her knee, Dr. Kahn squeezed her into her schedule and saw her the same day. She's calm and matter-of-fact, not cold. And I find her refreshingly frank.

Dr. Kahn can't care about her patients any less. She had the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. She could not properly address my questions, and you can tell she does not even care to do so. She picked up her personal phone while seeing patients without any explanation. She had no common sense when telling you that you do not need any treatment for something that really bothered you for a long time. She was rude, cold, unpleasant and in my eyes not qualified for her job at all. My advice: do not waste your time and money with her.

Rushed, patronizing tone.
She was in a hurry although her office was empty. I felt as though I had imposed on her, she didn't listen to my concerns, treated me as though I were a child. I expected the same respectful interchange I have received from every other Columbia doctor, which I had come to believe was part of the institutional culture. A most unsatisfying annual physical. Will never return to her office.

Bedside manner needs improvement
First visit her bedside manner was not very good. Second time I messaged the office to make an appointment, and when she called back she was condescending and disapproving about a matter that was totally unrelated to what I was actually communicating about before addressing the matter at hand. Her tone and the words that she uses when speaking to patients are inappropriate, they convey condescension and can make a patient feel small, unintelligent, or like they are wasting her time.

Dr. Kahn made me wait for 40 minutes to be with me for 10 minutes, she was very cold, rushed me, and talked over my constantly. She dismissed all my concerns. I waited for 1 week for her to call me with my results and I ended up calling her twice. I will not go back!

Dr. Kahn used to be my doctor just for a year, and I did not like the visit at all! First she had me waiting an hour just for the visit to only be 20 minutes long. The only thing she did was take my BP and checked my breast. She didn't say much, no interactions, she didn't go over my chart nothing. Also, I was explaining to her some of my medical concerns I was having, and she literally brushed it off. Overall it wasn't a great experience with her, and I left to find a BETTER physician that actually is attentive, listens and try to help me to the full MAX.

Dr. Nancy Kahn doesn’t listen when you talk and missed a blatantly swollen lymph node in my neck, that another provider caught the next day. She is impatient and rude. Her bedside manner is poor. If she doesn’t know what to do with you, she will doubt your symptoms.

In October of 2016 I went to see Dr Kahn because I felt very sick. She asked a few questions did a physical examination and managed to completely miss an enlarged lymph node on my neck that I later found that very same day. She prescribed a Z-pack and later prescribed prednisone when I called her to explain nothing was working and still felt very sick she said there's nothing else I can do for you, you can go to the ER if you would like. She didn't bother asking me back for more testing or at least referring me to a specialist. I found a Pulmonologist who treated me with respect and care and took the time to investigate further. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage 3 no thanks to Dr. Kahn and her secretary who gave me an extremely difficult time to obtain referrals to see the specialist because she was more concerned with collecting co-pays. Luckily there are still amazing Doctors who actually care and listen

Discussing my cholesterol levels she said, "We don't know what to do with people like you." Discussing my chronic pain caused by small fiber neuropathy she jumped on the "You're depressed!" bandwagon without asking me one question about how I felt mentally. When I didn't take her instant depression diagnosis she said, "We can't help people like you." It's clear to me now that Dr. Kahn is just waiting for retirement, patients be damned or doomed or a combination of the two.

I am leaving a review for Dr. Nancy Kahn resulting from a office visit last year. I went to her because I often had acute back/shoulder pain in the middle of the night that lasts 4-5 hours. I found it unusual and was suspicious of gallbladder stones. Dr.Kahn was being very condescending and almost scolded me for challenging her diagnosis (irritated stomach). It was a really unpleasant experience. btw I was confirmed with gallbladder stones, NOT irritated stomach. Thank god I didn't listen to her

I went to see Dr. Kahn recently because I needed a new primary care physician. She was pretty thorough during the visit. She is however quite condescending and will scoff at questions you ask and she is not particularly warm either. I probably won't go back to see her again.

While Nancy Kahn may in fact be a wonderful doctor, the experience of dealing with her assistant actually made me switch doctors. From the miscoding of a bill so that hours were spent dealing with the hospital and insurance to straighten it out, to her inability to use my correct email address so I could gain access to my Columbia health portal, her ineptitude was a deal-breaker. I think it can't be understated how important the person who you deal with before seeing the doctor is.
