Very helpful, kind . Was able to diagnosis me quick and start treatment. Took her time to explain the medications, too. I have told lots of friends and family to see her!

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Schment wasn't great or even good. I was a new patient with RA, moved from California to NY and was hoping to find a good specialist to consult with. I saw Dr Schmidt twice and I am not going back. I didn't have recent blood tests on file, and she didn't order one, neither for inflammation nor for rheumatoid factor. She did injection in my knee as I asked her, as I could barely walk that time and was in a lot of pain. No treatment plan was offered to me either. Next time (in 5 months) I was a flare: pain and swelling in my both wrists. Again, no blood test offered, only big dose of ibuprofen, and referral to rehabilitation medicine, for suspicion of nerve problem like in karpaltunnelsyndrom (first available appointment there was in a month) . She refused to give me steroid injection although my wrists have never had one. Ibuprofen didn't help. Pain persisted to the point of me being unable to sleep. I had to go to urgent care where they did a blood test, confirming inflammation, and prescribed a short course of prednisone that helped immediately. So, why a rheumatology specialist didn't help? I don't know.

I had so much pain and swelling from my rheumatoid arthritis, which is so much better thanks to Dr Schmidt! Shes a great communicator-I leave her office with a clear understanding of my treatment plan (which she always writes out) and she always calls to follow-up on my test results. Very kind and empathetic too!

Kind, compassionate and knowledgeable doctor
I have been seeing Dr. Schmidt for the past year and by far one of the best doctors to have on my care team. I saw many rheumatologist for my joint issues and had multiple work up and no one could figure out what was going on. Not only was Dr. Schmidt finally able to give me a diagnosis but she was able to recommend treatment that have really helped me. She is kind, patient and was very honest and upfront with me about what to expect. She explained the medication we would try, informed me about possible side effects and told me the next step in case that medication did not provide me relief or gave me side effects. It is a year later and I feel like a new person. I am finally able to enjoy life, play with my grandkids and travel to see family because thanks to Dr. Smith my Lupus is no longer debilitating. I highly recommend having her on your medical team.

BEST Doctor ever
I have had nothing but an excellent experience with Dr. Schmidt. She has great bedside manner, is kind and patient. When no one else was able to figure out what was wrong with me, she worked hard to figure it out. She always communicates in a timely manner with lab results and follows-up on them. The office is very busy but she always makes time to see me. A great doctor!

Please- Run, don’t walk, away.
I have had a rheumatologist that I absolutely loved. Nancyanne Schmidt is not one of them. She has zero bedside manner, compassion or humility and talks AT you instead of with you. I’ve had the misfortune of her telling me that I’m fine and my labs look great, only to look at my labs and find that they are not great at all (other physicians have concurred). It turns out that she didn’t look at the lab values at all. If you want a doctor who tells you your symptoms are caused by a medication that you are not even taking — then Dr. Schmidt is right for you. If you’d like someone to medically gaslight you and tell you that you aren’t experiencing what you are experiencing, then she’s also right for you. If you’d also like to visit a physician who tells you there is no correlation between your disease and your symptoms (even though the two are widely established), then pay her a visit. Otherwise, please take go visit another doc for your rheumatological treatment. I DO NOT recommend.
