Dr. Nathan Chung, MD

He was great for my first two appointments. His treatment was aggressive but logical. He explained things well and my comfort was a primary focus for him. The third visit was different. He seemed indifferent and declared I needed surgery. This made no sense. When I questioned him, he shut me down. When I said what he was doing hurt, he said, "It's gonna hurt." There was no empathy, no additional measures taken to ensure my comfort and he was out of the room in under 2 minutes. I never went back and got a second opinion. I didn't need surgery. My wound is healed. Having a wound is hard enough. We all deserve kind, empathetic doctors who want to partner with us. Unfortunately, he no longer wanted to partner with me.

He has excellent bedside manner, puts patients at ease with his good sense of humor.

If I ever needed someone to cut into me, Dr. Nathan Chung would be one of the ones I'd call. I lucked out with finding Dr. Chung. I've never had surgery before and needed a lipoma removed near my rib. I was coming in from out of town during the holiday season and Dr. Chung was super accommodating and awesome. He kept me and my husband informed about everything. The medical center that we were supposed to have our surgery at did an all-out last minute cancellation due to staffing issues and Dr Chung was still able to manage a way to still have my surgery performed. I was able to keep in contact with Dr Chung via text all the time. He followed up with me after the surgery to make sure everything was okay and due to his excellent skill and this cool negative pressure wound device he put on me after the surgery, I have had very little pain and not needed any pain medication. Dr. Chung, thanks so much for everything. I hope to not have to have surgery ever again but if I do, I'll keep your

Dr Chung is a very efficient, thorough surgeon. I have never seen another doctor of his kind, who really cares about the patient and curing them instead of making patients go through all the administrative hurdles themselves. He answers HIS OWN CALLS and is super easy to text him too. The first time I called, he picked his own phone up - this was a miracle!!!! no need to jump umpteen hoops just to get a appointment to talk/meet the doctor! He knows clearly what he is doing, does a very clean, thorough, detailed job ( can hardly see a line where the surgery was done); is available to answer any questions we may have. On surgery day, he came in 1 hr earlier, checked in on me couple of times at various stages and once surgery was done, personally went and met my husband who was outside and conveyed how well the surgery went and that I was already waking up! Such a relief and personal touch as opposed to all the mechanized voices or care we get while trying to find a general surgeon;

I found an adenomyomatosis involving the gallbladder fund region by an abdomen ultrasound. I had a surgery last week. Either Dr. Chung is the best surgeon or I am used to pain(I had a debilitating pain for 20 years before I had a tarlov cyst surgery/It is a rare disease), I did not feel too much pain after the surgery and I did not have to take any pain medication he prescribed. He knows what he is doing and I highly recommend him.

Dr. Chung is a wonderful surgeon and always comes through with his word. He performed an "emergency" colostomy on my husband a few months ago which saved my husband's life. To top it all off, my husband has a genetic condition, "situs inversus" meaning that his misceral organs are a mirror image of most everyone else's. Dr. Chung had experience with "situs inversus" patients and it truly showed as my husband recovered very well afterwards plus had just recently undergone a successful "colorectal surgery by another surgeon. We would have had Dr. Chung perform this surgery, however, he was not contracted with his medical insurance but was brought in this emergency situation. Love Dr. Chung's demeanor, he is very down to earth & always helps out with any paperwork from insurance companies and employers. Would highly recommend him to anyone & we are forever grateful.

Saw Dr. Chung at Hoag Wound care clinic. I am a retired Certified Hand Therapist and treated a variety of upper extremity post op wounds, burns, and traumatic injuries for 29 years. Dr. Chung,a surgeon, debrided a wound on my foot and then proceeded to use the most inappropriate wound care product resulting in destruction of the wound bed. I believe he either he does not understand the basics of wound care products or he did so with the intent to debride again and thus make more money.

Dr. Chung was the surgeon on call when I took my husband to the ER with severe abdominal pain on a Sunday morning. I am a nurse myself and was surprised when the Er Doctor stated that my husband needed emergency abdominal surgery. Within the hour Dr. Chung and the excellent surgery staff were called in completed the surgery without incidence. Dr. Chung is clinically excellent and has been wonderful to my husband and myself. We are grateful for the his excellent care and highly recommend him.
