I gave Nicholas Battista MD records for a previous colonoscopy and colorectal surgery done out of state, which he set aside unread. I came prepared to discuss my complaints of constipation, bloating, and abdominal pain perhaps because of gastroparesis. Dr. Battista carelessly ordered a new routine colonoscopy. However, because he got fecal matter on the strobe, botching the procedure, he disingenuously ordered blood labs for expensive STD's to make his 'nurse and anesthesiologist feel comfortable' -- all billed to my insurance at high cost, resulting in a premium hike. When I complained in writing in my electronic chart, Dr. Battista made no effort to respond. Instead, all my future appointments in other clinics were mysteriously canceled. I complained in writing to Patient Relations, which failed to acknowledge receipt. I also lodged a formal complaint with the North Dakota Board of Medicine. Simply put, Dr. Battista is an incompetent proceduralist in a negligent rush.

Dr. Battista became upset and talked over me and raised his voice. I feel his behavior was unprofessional. He was unwilling to hear my concerns and seemed to think I was being silly or unreasonable when I asked for an alternative.

Solved Eososiniphilic Esophagitus with one visit
Apparently nobody else could, he wrote me a single prescription and I haven't looked back. (except for when I'm required to go tell a nurse it's still going well every year)

At intake, I gave Dr. Battista records for previous colonoscopies, which he set aside unread. Instead, he ordered a new one without explanation; without my informed consent; and without going over alternatives, risks, and benefits. Citing a 'poor prep' even though he had removed two benign polyps, he still ordered a repeat colonoscopy in a year without stipulating medical necessity, required for coverage by my healthcare insurance. A negligent proceduralist in a careless rush. At intake, he was in the exam room for 15 minutes, but billed Medicare for 45 minutes. I later complained to Sanford Medical Center's Patient Relations as well as Medicare's Quality of Care Department, which arranges peer review of the medical records.
