Worse off than when I started
In general, I liked Dr. Hugentober's office manner and office staff was great. However, he recommended additional surgery on my foot, but I do not feel he adequately represented the risks and how evasive the additional surgery would be. The results have been devastating, and I am far worse off now than before I even started with him - even almost 2 years post surgery. I was hoping to get back to running, but instead, walking is very painful. Subsequent podiatrists have said the additional work should never have been recommended.

Just scheduled a surgery with another Doctor after two years of pain from the first surgery. New doc has to re-do what he did because he didn't get it right the first time.

I highly recommend Dr Hugentobler for any foot/ankle problems. I recently broke my foot. Dr Hugentobler took time to LISTEN to my concerns about my foot. He explained all the options that were available in helping me to heal. He never made me feel as if any of my questions were dumb. He also reconfirmed that the pain I was feeling was real and not in my head. From Kim at the front desk to the MA and Dr Hugentobler, my experience was very positive!

I recently saw Dr Hugentobler for an ankle injury as well as for chronic foot issues. Dr Hugentobler was very thorough in his diagnosis, he listened to my concerns and he set up a game plan that is correcting the problem(s). His entire staff was kind & helpful....especially Brittany A. who was exceptionally kind and caring when I was in a lot of pain. I now continue with my physical therapy and i would feel confident in seeing Dr Hugentobler again.

I refer everyone I know in Durango to Dr. Hugentobler. My 9 y.o. daughter dropped a weight on her foot and wouldn't stop crying at school. I called Animas Foot and Ankle and they were able to get me in right away. Dr. Hugentobler and the staff made my daughter very comfortable and she felt better before we left the office. I've also been a patient for about 4 years. I've had injections for chronic ankle pain and injury. I trust Dr. Hugentobler to manage my very unstable ankle and know that his recommendations are going to be what is best for me, as an individual.

I was treated for plantar fasciitis with Dr. Hugentobler. He has a wonderful bedside manner. He was informative and discussed in detail all my options. He had numerous non surgical options. I would recommend this doctor.

Unfortunately my experience with Dr. Hugentobler was not positive. I had three surgeries within two weeks time. The second and third times were to correct what did not repair in the initial surgery. To my shock upon awakening fron the anesthetic Dr. Huge hugentobler informed me that in addition to attaching a tendon he took my ankle apart and removed the arthritis and placed three plates and 13 screws in my foot. To this day I am unable to walk normally and have daily pain. I hav

I had to have corrective surgery on my right foot after living with severe ankle pronation and flat feet my whole life. Dr. Hugentobler explained my procedure very well and what to expect with recovery. My foot is now healing and feels better than ever. I look forward to fixing my other foot and being able to walk normally! I am definitely happy with my experience.

Dr. Hugentobler uses out of network pathologists and anesthesiologists, so my insurance would not pay for these services. I was not told about this practice. I had to pay quite a bit out of pocket for these services. Dr. Hugentobler also had shoe inserts made for me. I agreed to this assuming they were necessary. My insurance company denied the claim stating they were not medically necessary. Again I had to pay considerable amount out of pocket. His billing dept does not return my calls.

It was quite odd to visit Dr. Hugentobler over multiple visits and never have him actively handle my feet. A podiatrist who seemed reticent to actually touch feet was a red flag to me. He does not seems to have much bedside manner and I never felt comfortable with him. Speaks with a lot of medical jargon rather than clearly explaining issues to the layperson. Office is nice, but definitely seems focused on "bells and whistles" like a fancy x-ray machine and products they can sell you.

I was a walk in to Dr Hugentoblers office and within two weeks, I had my procedure done! This is almost unheard of in health care these days. Everyone in the office is professional yet personable, they don't mind sharing a laugh while addressing questions and concerns.

BEST doctor office I have worked with in a VERY long time. From receptionist to technicians to doctor Hugentobler himself, this is what healthcare SHOULD be about, a very rare thing to find these days. I can't say enough good about this office and the related surgery center.
