Dr. Nihal De Silva, MD

Dr De Silva does what is needed for the patient. I have seen many Doctors over my 70 years, and Doctor De Silva is in the top 2. My wife came to see him in 2020. She was on max dose medication for Intractable Epilepsy, and PTSD. She was a Zombie. He treated her and eliminated all the psychiatric meds that weren't needed. She is back to the woman I married. Dr. De Silva is the real deal.

I was treated by Dr.Desilva for 15 years and I truly doubt there’s as many doctors around who are as good as he is . These negative reviews don’t sit well to me. I’ve been through so much in my life and he was always very helpful and caring. He’s very knowledgeable in regard to depression medications and anxiety. When I first went to him after I moved from another state, I was very overmedicated and taking large doses of meds I didn’t need as I was horrendously misdiagnosed. He got me off all the junk and put me on two mild meds that worked very well for me for years. He’s not a pill pusher. I am thinking perhaps these people who left terrible reviews probably went to the wrong type of doctor for the type of problem they had. People do that quite often, and then blame the doctor.

Dr Silva said I was "Too smart" for medicine. He said that if I hadn't found the right meds before then he didn't know what to do with me. He also said that it was obvious I had attention deficit but not ADHD (Which doesn't exist in the DSM 5 as they are the same thing). He never was transparent that it is against San Ysidro Behavior health's policy to evaluate adults for ADHD. He also asked me who my insurance was 4 different times each time following up with that he didn't understand why I was seeing him and that I am too smart and active (physically such as in hiking, camping, and travel) to be working with him. I felt dismissed, cut off, and like he was fishing for money. After the appointment, the head of psychiatry at San Ysidro Behavior health told me that it is against their policy to evaluate, diagnose, treat, or medicate adults with ADHD. I was honestly just trying to figure out if I have ADHD, Autism, or both. I'm very disappointed.

Horrible doctor. No bed-side manner. Poor recognition of social norms. Removed from what constitutes typical family behavior. He does not listen, jumps to conclusions.
