Saved my life!
In 2021, I experienced an aortic dissection. Arriving at Berkshire Medical, the ER staff struggled to diagnose me. The interns and nurses all wanted it to be a heart attack. But as the pain spread from my heart through my abdomen and into my right leg, it was clear something else was amiss. Because of Covid, it took over an hour for my wife to get into the ER. When she did, she was able to get Dr. McIntrye's attention. As soon as the medical staff described the situation, and I described the symptoms, her eyes lit up: big trouble. She took the correct step: ordered a CT scan which confirmed her fear: an aortic dissection in progress. I was shipped to Baystate Medical in Springfield where the great medical team operated successfully. But without her first step in recognizing the symptoms, it would not have happened......and I'd be dead. Thanks to her I'm here.
