Dr. Owen O'Neill, MD

I visited Dr. O'Neill after having my right hip replaced and needing my left hip replaced. He was very upfront about the problems with my first hip replacement. He explained things he does differently (general anesthesia rather than a spinal, prescribing Meloxicam after surgery, not allowing physical therapy) and it worked beautifully. I was dreading my second hip replacement. But it turned out to be very easy. I slept the first night in the recovery ward!! For my first hip replacement, I didn't sleep for weeks. And he is a kind person. He knew I was worried about the second surgery because the first one was awful (terrible pain, vomiting, needing a catheter, and ending up with tendonitis). He did everything he could to reassure me and make sure my second experience was perfect. I highly recommend him because he is a perfectionist, a skilled surgeon and a nice person!

I honestly give this Doctor the highest rating without any hesitation. He did my total knee. I am very particular and ask a lot of questions and have many other health issues. He was patient, had a great support staff to answer my ongoing questions, he did an excellent surgical job and my new knee can be totally straight and bend at 125. I can walk and swim and do what I want after only 8 weeks and I am 74 and not in the best shape. His support staff, and PT staff are knowledgeable and will help and encourage you and customize exercises specific to your needs.

Dr. O'Neill performed a TKR on my left knee in Sept. 14, 2022. I was confident in him starting at the first meeting. Dr., O'Neill and his team were very supportive as well as being clear about what to expect during recovery, and my part in that process. Happy to say every thing went well, was able to start walking without a cane by week 5 post op, and now, at week 13 I only think of it while doing rehab exercises. Hard to imagine having a better experience with this procedure

TCO orthopedic surgeon Dr Owen O’Neill did my total knee replacement on 9/2/22. Due to sports injuries and 8 previous surgeries, my other knee was replaced at TRIA 16 years ago. My patient experience, and the entire pre-surgical, surgical, and post-operative care were remarkably different between TCO and TRIA. Though time may have improved the TRIA care process, TCO’s systematic approach to major surgery was infinitely superior. Dr O’Neill and my TRIA surgeon are regarded as the best in the Twin Cuties, but the TRIA process was disengaged and lacked continuity. The TCO surgical process included non-rushed pre-operative appointments with Dr O’Neill, then later with his Physician’s Assistant, Isabel. During the initial meeting with Dr O’Neill (who trained at the legendary Mayo Clinic) he said he was a “perfectionist” when he performed total knees, striving to align the metal protheses perfectly. I’ve had both hips replaced by Dr Owen Oneill. I couldn’t be more pleased! My hips hurt so bad that I was actually hobbling and using crutches. I am now 100% and couldn’t be happier with the results. I never even think about the fact that I have had both hips replaced. These hips can do anything again. Although it’s been a while since I’ve had them replaced I think it’s important to share my story so that others can benefit. He is a wonderful doctor! Thanks for giving me a new lease on life!

He has been putting shots in my knees for years. He does it very well.

I've been in severe pain for 3 months. While TRIA has usually been great, this time they were dismissive and frustrating. I asked on Facebook for recommendations and MANY recommended Dr. O'Neill. So did friends and neighbors. My expectations were high and somehow he exceeded them. He was professional yet friendly and SHOWED ME what was wrong with my hip. He patiently listened to my questions and concerns. I am so eager to have surgery in March.

Anterior THR - smooth experience from initial meeting, surgery, recovery and now 6 months post-op. My quality of life has improved significantly.

Dr. O'Neill did my hip replaqcement a couple of years ago, since that time, I've had other health issues that occurred, and have gone back to Dr. O'Neill for help with a painful knee, and most recently, with shoulder pain from a fall, Dr. O'Neill is so common sense approach to all my issues, he has helped me with both problems and I trust his judgement, implicitly.

I had a total knee replacement in October that has gone incredibly well. Dr. O’Neill and staff at TCO, Burnsville, MN, have an organized approach so there are few surprises. The physical therapists in Burnsville are top notch. They guide the patient through the healing process in a kind, caring and knowledgeable way.

On the day I met dr O I was in so much pain. After taking long due xrays he assured me he could make me feel better. I had had a pin come loose from a previous surgery and needed a hip surgery. He is kind direct very experienced and Good natured. Surgery went well. I would highly recommend this Dr. He is the best. C. Marks

I had a right hip replacement done by Dr. Owen O’Neill, followed all the instructions I was given and had a smooth recovery. At three weeks I was walking unassisted and driving. In the future I will need knee surgery and I will be returning to have that done.

Dr. O'Neill did surgery on my right hip and did an excellent job. I visited him to discuss repairing the left hip. He was honest and advised me that if it was not affecting my life style to wait on making that decision. I appreciated the fact that he seem to care more about me then the money.

Saw Dr. O'Neill for the first time for my left hip pain. Dr. O'Neill was very friendly, efficient and reassuring. Turns out that I have a bursitis of the left hip and no need for hip replacement. Dr. O'Neill is pleasant, efficient, great communicator and when I get a knee injection from him, it is lasting 3 years. I am absolutely delighted with him and his expertise.

I have had several years of pain and doctor appointments. Now I believe I may be on a path to returning to myself before the pain began. He carefully explained an action plan that I feel confident will help my body begin to heal and that can help to restart my life again with less pain.

Dr. Owen O'Neill has performed 2 full hip replacements on me in the last 4 months. I couldn't be more happy with the professionalism I've received from every staff member at TCO. They take the time to truly listen and respond with empathy. They are very detailed and upfront with treatment, therapy, surgical procedures and recovery. Dr. O'Neill is extremely knowledgable, but speaks to you in a very relatable way. He makes you feel at ease. Additionally, his surgical expertise was amazing. He is completely trustworthy. I'm feeling great and back to normal lifetime activities!

Dr. O'Neill is my best DR that he is wonderful guy and cool guy! He really doing so great that two surgery (right knee total replacement and right should rotator cuff repaired that feel so great.. TWO THUMBS UP! ! !

March 2 2020 i underwent a total knee by Dr Owen Oneill. The Excel program is an amazing concept! All staff from Ann in scheduling and coordinating all my paper work needs to the care suite nursing/PT staff were SO attentive. I felt very comfortable going home after the 1 overnight. Dr ONeill is a VERY skilled,wonderful,caring and attentive surgeon. He also takes time for questions and is very reassuring. BRILLANT MD!! I highly recommend Dr ONeill and the Excel program-an exceptionally smooth program! My knee flexion was 110 degrees by day 5 post op and 141 degree by end of week 2! TCO PT Breanna and Kate were also wonderful. If i could rate my experience with Dr ONeill and team it would be a 10!! Even did a zoom appointment during the stay at home order.
