disgruntled donnie
the needle stick by fillmore was not as professionally competent as his employee dr spendlove, md.fillmore owns 7 or 8 clinics and I see him as a businessman before he is a surgeon . as fillmore stuck his drug needle into my eye it stung and I jumped. My vision became immediately disconcertingly blurry. fillmore did not wait ten minutes for his anesthetic injection to ”take.”Spendlove , on the other hand , waits ten minutes for the anesthetic injection to “take.”and my vision is nowhere near as blurry after dr spendlove’s injections to the nasty degree fillmore produced. I’m guessing the phd after fillmore’s name means piled higher and deeper.thanksSINCERELYpaul

addendum to my first review
After four follow-up visits with DrBailey (optometrist) and Dr Fillmore I was told that my only course of action was to have the Lasik proceedure to restore my vision to a functionally acceptable level. Dr Fillmore had his office set up an appointment with a Lasik center in another town for me, not at my request, but because I asked him what could be done to fix my problem. I assumed that he was going to at least help pay for the treatment but no. Should have read the disclosure closer! Since my cataract proceedure I have had trouble seeing clearly, I have had large floaters now in both eyes (again not due to anything with the surgery) never had a floater in my life before! Medicare and my supplement have paid all the bills for all the visits and I have to pay for the Lasik as it is not Medicare approved. I have neve r heard of anyone else who had cataract surgery and had this result where the progressive prescroption flipped 180 degrees requiring the opposite script glasses.

My experience with Dr Fillmore was great. He listened to my concerns, and was very knowledgeable. The clinic was busy, but he took the necessary time to answer my questions. The staff are excellent and everyone know what they are doing. I was so refreshing to find a doctor's office like this. We are lucky to have him in Southern New Mexico.

This is the worst medical treatment I have ever received. Dr. Fillmore was flippant and dismiss in the five minutes he spent with me, did a laser procedure on both of my eyes in a procedure room while I shared it with another patient with a technician pushing my head into the machine. He spoke not a word to me, and when I left, my vision was marked!y worse than when I got there. This was an assembly line facility - stay away if you value to eyesight and your dignity as a medical patient!

So unhappy with result of cataract surgery in both eyes. Having moved to Alamogordo from Dallas-Ft.Worth area 3 years ago, I expected a small town caring and organized doctor and clinic but got a "cattle call" surgery center with rushed visits, confusion, misleading information and questional follow-up care.
