Great Doctor
Dr. Hook genuinely cares about helping people. He had a real conversation with me. He ordered basic tests that led to new medical diagnoses and treatment options. He called me personally to assure I received the test results and his recommendations for follow-up testing and treatment. He did more for me in a single visit that a dozen other providers over multiple years. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Hook for his help.

Dissmissive
I went to Dr Hook about two years ago. I was experiencing all manner of scary symptoms. I drove home from my appt crying because I felt dismissed, overlooked, rushed, and he made it a point to tell me that he didn't feel there was a need to test my blood. It's too bad, because if he would have bothered, it would have caught his attention. I canceled my follow-up in favor of a second opinion and I found a great Dr who made all the difference.

Zero complaints
Easily one of the top two best rheumatologist’s I’ve ever been treated by in the past 44 years of my time with severe arthritis. From excellent bedside manner, to highly understanding, skilled, knowledgeable, kind, considerate and caring. Dr. Hook is truly top of his practice…. and I’ve been to a LOT of rheumatologist’s & specialists over the years at MANY locations and cities. Would be perfectly happy to have him continue my care until I’m old and gone. 100% confident he keeps my best interests in mind and gives me best care possible.

He has patience with you
Mine is not an easy case. I was a new patient a few months ago. He listened to ALL my past medical history and also concerns. It’s not easy to see a new doctor for me cuz I am a pain management case, and sometimes, a new doctor will assume that you are a ’drug seeker’. I am not I have been doing this dance for 29 years now, more than half my life. I just wanted a diagnosis and he provided that, it made sense, he explained it and he treated my condition with injections, and they really helped! He also communicated with my other doctors so they were in the loop. Now, some may be saying Duh! That’s what they do but believe me many out there DON’T!! As a side note: Dr Hook has an LPN as an assistant and I take comfort in that as well.

Dr Hook was very compassionate, and made referrals to other specialists as needed. His leaving Reliant has had devastating consequences.

I have no idea how others rated him high. This dr has bad reviews on other sites. He is neglectful and dismissive. Did not listen to any of my symptoms, interupted me after asking me a question, and didnt look at the list of my symptoms I wrote down for him. He barely touched my problem areas and diagnosed me with fibromyalgia which doesnt even match half of my symptoms. Awful experience and a waste of time.

Very little eye contact. Preferred to focus on typing into the exam room computer. I did not get the impression he was well versed on rheumatologic conditions or simply had the inability to explain his findings and recommendations.

It was a very good experience. He was very nice, and gave me plenty of time. He answered any questions I had. He reviewed my bone density test with me, and gave me a full understanding of what it meant, and discussed a treatment option, and gave me information to read about it.
