An enlightening approach to medical treatment
Dr. Alvord is a rare and refreshing blend of professional excellence and compassionate care. He is a skilled surgeon who listens attentively to your concerns and provides clear, honest and valuable explanations. As a patient, you feel heard and truly seen.At a low point in my life, his kind, reassuring presence gave me comfort and confidence. Even in my vulnerable state, his light and vibrant energy put me at ease, and brought calm and laughter on the day of the procedure.Despite his important schedule and impressive expertise, Dr. Alvord made time for my non-trivial hernia surgery. Though small, it carried significant weight for me, and having him on my team made all the difference.I had an allergic reaction to the bonding agent & stitches, but I know this was outside Dr. Alvord’s control.I highly recommend Dr. Alvord for surgery.

Total Incompetence PLUS Rude!
As soon as you walk into this doctor's office, "Payment in Full" is demanded for your visit! Then start filling out the "Patient Check In" forms you already did before your appointment, because the forms you filled out online, beforehand, "didn't come through". Eventually, after the scheduled time for your appointment has long passed, you'll finally meet Dr. Alvord and then you find out he's a smart alec, "know it all" type who smirks and is uncaring towards your suffering. Their main priority here is your $$$, not your health and wellbeing! Dodge a bullet and do not go here!!

Dr. Alvord took care of my husband so well. The surgery went fantastic and his bed side manner is amazing. He answered all of the crazy questions we had and was very caring! When we were going through one of the scariest times he was there and made us feel more comfortable about the process. We Will always remember Dr.Alvord and his team! Very thankful!

Although I hadn't required any surgical procedures for the first 60 years of my life, I did some research and learned Dr. Alvord performed his Internship and Residency at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, which I thought was impressive. He operated on me for a hernia repair three years, and not only was my recovery quick and uncomplicated, the scar was barely noticeable. The second surgery he performed was much, much more complicated intestinal surgery a few weeks ago. Each time he saw me on his rounds, he expressed genuine interest in how I felt and if I had any questions or concerns regarding the healing process. Basically, he had to remove some of my damaged intestine, then reconnect the two healthy ends. Two weeks after my release, my health and energy have returned to almost full strength. I have no pain, am able to eat whatever I want, and am glad I had the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Paul Alvord to anyone trying to decide the best surgeon when events require one.

So kind and concerned about pain- even returned to the hospital again to do a procedure the nurses couldn’t do! This kind and super doctor and surgeon is meant to be a doctor! Thier staff are very disrespectful, rude, and they are not well trained. it took me two weeks to try to be seen by dr. Alverd and i m still waiting to be scheduled! If one of the office employee disrepect you; dont waste your time and complain to the office manger Denise because she does not give a damn care about you; she will not listen to you. She will tell you “ we made a decision not to see you anymore” thats what she told me when her employee David disrespected me.

When I questioned why it was taking over 2 months to schedule surgery for my husband (he has pancreatic cancer) Dr Alvord dropped us! The staff are unprofessional, insensitive and show no compassion. Roccio was quite rude and I can't understand why a dr would abandon a patient because the staff didn't like you!!

Do not go to this physician, or to the Pacific Coast Surgical Group in Hillcrest. The staff are very unprofessional and your best interest is not what comes first. I was scheduled and rescheduled 3 times while I waited for two months to be seen. I was called only 4 hours before my scheduled appointment each and every time. After the third time this happened, I questioned their professionalism and the office manager, Rocio Wright, told me I was dismissed as a potential patient. Do not recommend.
