Exceptional Care
Dr. Paul Montalbano is exceptional. After a failed fusion and my original neurosurgeon dismissing my pain, Dr. Montalbano provided the care I desperately needed. He thoroughly explained the issues, created a clear plan, and never made me feel rushed. He was patient, understanding, and truly listened.Dr. Montalbano and his team worked tirelessly with my insurance for approval, showing incredible persistence. My surgery was a success, and for the first time in over a year, I am completely pain-free. The difference in my quality of life is remarkable. His commitment to patients goes beyond surgery. His office called the day after to check on me and scheduled follow-ups, including physical therapy, promptly. Dr. Montalbano ensures recovery is as important as the procedure, which is rare among surgeons. If you need a caring, skilled neurosurgeon who prioritizes his patients, I highly recommend Dr. Montalbano. I’m incredibly grateful for the outstanding care he provided.

Expensive and arrogant DR
Fall 2024I was referred to Dr. Montalbano by another orthopedic Dr. The first time I saw Montalbano was over an hour after my appointment time. His nurse and PA came in first and said he had reviewed everything before coming into see me. All he really said was he didn't think my hip pain was from my hip, but from my spine. He ordered another MRI and x-rays. Didn't examine me or really ask any questions. Wham, bam, he was gone. Probably less than 5 minutes in the room.I got the 2nd MRI and additional X-rays he ordered (first MRI was from an orthopedic dr) and went back to see Montalbano for the results. He said I'd need surgery, but would not discuss any options or answer my questions and now he wanted a Bone Scan done. Again spent less than 5 minutes with me, didn't show me the MRI or X-ray images. Didn't say why I'd need a bone scan. He didn't ask any questions, like whether anything had changed, whether the anti-inflammatories had worked or how I was doing. Just in and out.I h

Waste of time!
I was referred to Dr. Montalbano. My appointment time was 10:00a.m. I waited 2 hours and never saw the doctor or anyone other than the girl who brought me to the room. Not to mention I had a 30 minute drive each way. So inconsiderate of this office. You’re just a number. I’ll seek out a more professional Dr.

Highly Recommended Neurosurgeon
Dr. Montalbano is one of the most knowledgeable, compassionate, experienced neurosurgeons around. He is incredibly thorough with his diagnosis and attempts to manage pain through other methods prior to ever considering surgery- which I agree with and appreciate. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck with “conservative measures” as my issues were structural in nature and have needed 2 cervical fusions for 2 different diagnoses. The first, in 2020, was very straightforward. The second, in 2023, was slightly more complicated and it was a battle with my insurance to get it approved. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Montalbano and his entire staff were incredibly supportive and I have never had a doctor “go to bat” for me like he did. My pain has been eliminated and I am so thankful to be a physically functional human again. He is professional, experienced and I would never trust my spine to anyone else! I could not be more grateful for Dr. Montalbano and his staff!!!

Larry Smith
I had surgery with Dr Montalbano and he was great. It was very successful and am pain free for a change. His staff is a lot better and more organized than it was when I was first there in January of 22. I did all the things he told me to do during recovery and the physical therapy help more than anything else. With the new fusion techniques I have more movement than I did before the surgery. I would not want anyone else to work on my back but him.

HORRIBLE!! Run as fast as you can! Misdiagnosed!
He reviewed my X-rays & took me on as a patient. Had me get an MRI, scheduled an appt. 30 days out. Went to the extremely rushed appt with the nurse who did the whole exam. While doing the exam I showed her that my hands where turning purple/blue/ice cold (this was starting to happen a lot) she said « wasn’t the worst things she had seen that day. He comes in looks at at on spine scans on a 12in monitor and says « I am not doing surgery & go see a chiropractor. Sent me to spine pain management. He was in an out in less then 3 minutes. WOW! Didn’t even go over the scans with me or the MRI report, nor did he even review it it. Had no clue to what was going on. I stated to the returning nurse who checked us out why he didn’t just review my scans 30 days earlier & pass me along; she said abruptly « well, he ain’t going to look at you for free! » Had 3 other doctors tell me I need surgery because of crushed disc etc. He also did the the same thing to others. SCARY!

Amazing relief!
Unbeknownst to me, I had been struggling with osteoarthritis in my spine for some years and it was an accident and an x-ray that brought it to my attention. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who referred me to Dr Montalbano who immediately had more scans done to make sure we took the right route for treatment. The day after my surgery I was in no pain, other than the surgical pain! And the staff throughout the process were so helpful and kind. I am SO glad I had my surgery!

Experienced and skilled
In a shocking turn of events I found out I had 2 tumors blocking off my spinal cord at the base of my brain stem. After a hefty recommendation, from a family member in medicine, to see Dr. Paul Montebano we decided he was our surgeon for this VERY specific and rare occasion. He had experience with this area and intricacies that others around did not have. He was willing to sit an answer any questions myself or my husband had. He did not sugar coat anything which I really appreciate. He told me very frankly what the consequences could be for such a diagnosis and surgery. I was in surgery in a months time and to my forever gratitude, he performed the surgery without any issues (which was a miracle) and I just had my year anniversary from surgery and enjoy a full life thank to him, his staff and the other medical professionals that helped. I am very grateful for him and would highly recommend him for his knowledge and skill base.
