He is awesome, so caring about his patients
My husband has small cell lung cancer, stage 4. It's incurable. He was given 1 year to live. Under Dr. Richards care it has now been over 22 months and my husband is going strong. After all treatments were tried and it still kept metastasizeing, Dr. Richards is trying a brand new drug just released on him. He's the 1st of Dr. Richards patients to receive it. This doctor does not give up on his patients. He is a wonderful, very caring doctor.

Encounter was okay but could have been better
[Review being submitted on my Mother's behalf by her son who attended the visit.] Dr. Richards seemed initially confused or maybe unprepared for my Mother's visit. It appeared part of the problem was lack of information from my Mother's family doctor who requested this specialist visit. After examining a blood sample, the exam quality improved with Dr. Richards providing useful information, explanations and recommendations. However, a large negative is that Dr. Richards was not wearing a mask throughout the entire visit. All other personnel who worked with my Mother during this visit wore masks, except for Dr. Richards.

I have only seen Dr. Richards twice. I saw Dr. Fintel beginning 1998, and had great respect for him. I knew Dr. Richards, as he was my Mom’s , (Bessie Presley), doctor. We lost her in 2004. Dr. Richards has always been a caring, knowledgeable, doctor. He is a great asset to Blue Ridge.a

Dr. Richards was my oncologist 20 years ago when I had breast cancer. I was glad that I could see him again. He always takes time with his patients and explains everything so you can understand. And I feel he is very thorough.
