I have never been so humiliated . I was suffering from sudden urinary pain and incontinence. Tests found no infection so I was referred by my primary . He didn't find anything in my culture and actually wrote that I was drinking too much water and I have a history of nervous behavior and depression on it! That is NOT TRUE. I had bulimia at age 16 ( I am 57) . His nurse wrote ' Fell off a stool due to incontinence'. What? One year ago I had 2 parathyroid adenomas removed that caused hypocalcemia and delirium. I fell and broke my wrist. History of depression? I sought out mental council after a divorce. This man should not be treating anyone, much less women. I am a super easy-going person, but this ... There are no words.

I was unfortunate to have Kidney issues starting at 17. Shapiro scolded me for this, (never diagnosed/assumed my negligence) and made misogynistic comments. At one point after surgery I saved a large stone that passed, when he came in to check on me. I referred to the stone in a sample cup, and asked if he needed to take it for testing. His response was "I think I've seen enough of what's inside of you for one day" I was mortified and felt shame. After a few more jabs, and 1 more humiliating comment at his office (the lady who assisted him apologized as he left) I switched urologists. I live near Canandaigua and often have stones that require surgery. He is usually the only Urologist at Thompson Hospital. Every time he finds out Im the patient who requires help, he refuses, and has them remind me that's what I get for leaving his practice. They have to transport me to Strong. I now just go there if I can physically make,it but it's quite a bit farther away and difficult. Unprofessional

Stay away, he is heartless and resentful. If you complain about anything he will make your appointments miserable. 2/19/21 Ken--Canandaigua,NY

Dr. Shapiro has been a caring doctor, taking an interest in my profession (as my kidney stones & UTIs affect my functioning in that profession). I'd been satisfied with his care, including some of his idiosyncratic ways of confirming a patient's symptoms. But then something happened after a procedure that required me to have a stent for an extended period of time and which, in turn, left me with weakened muscles & increased incontinence. No reason or accountability was ever given for the extended stent time. I was sorry to seek out another urologist, because I had a responsive relationship with Dr.Shapiro, but I'm not certain of his skill - or perhaps his accountability for a simple human slip-up. Additionally, former office staff (recently changed) were gossipy and rude. That has been corrected.

Can’t believe this guy is a Doctor. Angry and rude. Showing symptoms of no energy, no libido, loss of strength, etc., my PCP & therapist both referred me to a urologist. Multiple blood tests confirmed low testosterone (301 on a scale of 300 - 1200) however since I was 1 point over the threshold he refused to treat me saying insurance wouldn’t cover medication. After offering to pay cash he still refused & said he’s “by the book” & “all I’ll give you is Viagra” (does nothing for libido). Avoid!

I was very disappointed with Dr Shapiro and his staff. When I arrived for my appointment I was informed the appointment was changed to the day before. There was no notice of this change. Clearly my health needs are not worthy of their time or care.

Dr Shapiro is clearly an expert in his field. He appeared as disappointed as we were that there would not be a solution to my husband's Parkinson's related health issue. He did give us a sample of a possibly useful drug. We would return to this doctor due to his knowledge and because he did do an excellent exam. His staff was very supportive added much to the level of satisfaction with the visit

Dr Shapiro talked about my father as if he was not there and even several times out loud said "he smells !" "You can smell the urine on him!" etc.... umm... really? How disrespectful !!! Just because he is elderly does not mean he doesn't have feelings! On another note the nurse and the Asst Physician were very respectful and very sweet to him.
