Very satisfied patient
I had significant knee pain for several years. Dr. Yau was recommended by my dear pastor friend at our church. At my first visit, I was seen by Hannah, the PA to discuss my basic medical history. and set up my CT scans and related pre-op meetings. I then met Dr. Yau and I must say this road to a total knee replacement was an easy decision after meeting him and his team. I can confidently say I would have made the same choice to move forward with my surgery, but had I known how supportive and compassionate Dr. Yau and his staff are - as well as the rapport Dr Yau and I have - I wouldn't have waited so long to have my knee done. From start to finish, my experience has been top notch and I have nothing but good things to say about this surgeon and his entire staff.Garry R

Total Hip Replacement
Dr. Yau is just amazing! I was in so much pain before my hip replacement. Dr. Yau was very professional and answered all my questions before surgery. I had a very positive experience and have recovered with the best results. After 9 weeks, I have been released from him. He works closely with P4 physical therapists and this is so important for a successful recovery. No longer in pain and can begin enjoying my activities again.

Just the best
I was very very afraid to have a total hip replacement. The minute I met Dr Yau, I felt more at ease. He has a great easy manner. My surgery was a huge success and my fear was unwarranted. I'd trust Dr Yau with any future surgery (but hopefully I won't need one!)

Outstanding Physician and Surgeon
I knew I was in the right place the minute I met his staff and got even better when I met Dr. Yau. I had to have a total knee replacement. Everyone that works for him is amazing! Called after I came home several times to check on me. Even a month out called to check again. I felt so comfortable and couldn’t believe the awesome care. I was up and walking not long after surgery and started therapy right away. People had a hard time believing I had just had a total knee replacement. I highly recommend Dr.Yau!! He made me whole again! Looking forward to surfing again this summer!! Also I am 68 years old!!

New Hip - Renewed Physical Activity
Dr. Yau replaced my hip about a year ago. Due to a torn labrum, born spurs, and arthritis, I experienced restricted movement in my normal walking gait and was quickly headed to a noticeable limp. Physical therapy was not effective in re-gaining my full range of motion. Being an avid hiker and enjoying 'yard work' my quality of life was being negatively impacted. Dr. Yau and his staff explained what to expect with surgery, explained the risks, told me what to expect post-surgery and answered my questions. The surgery was out-patient and I was walking with a walker the same day. His staff followed up with calls during those initial weeks. Physical therapy was not fun, but putting in the work made for a fairly quick recovery. I'm happy that I had the procedure and would certainly recommend Dr. Yau for those entertaining a new hip and an improved quality of daily life.

knee replacement 54 years of Carpenters work.
He and staff were very thorough before surgery. During and after. Dr Yau did the robot replacement for me. After 1-2 weeks I was off pain meds and ice. The exercise machine was a life saverMost of all dr Yau skills delivered a new knee without that major pain so many have. I’m a man so the scar was not an issue—- but it is tiny and tight!! ( he told me he had thought about plastic surgery—- he would have been a Great Plastic surgeon!!!Best I have ever seen

Left knee replacement
I had struggled with horrible knee pain for 2 years. I'm 72 now. I was referred to Dr Yau by my family physician. I was impressed with his office, staff and with Dr Yau. All very professional and helpful. My surgery went well and I began PT 3 days after surgery. I had an excellent result and now 2.5 months post-op I'm back to my routines and enjoying life. The first 10 days were the worse for pain.

Great surgeon but run badly
Dr. Yau is a great surgeon. Had a total hip replacement but the care after surgery is near impossible. Suffered from severe spinal headaches, nobody seemed to care or be able to refer. Every time I have called the office Ive never been able to see Dr. Yau again, as they said he is seeing 30 or more patients in a day which is near impossible to give anyone the time they need. When seeing the NP on a previous visit about pain I was in, I was offered nothing more than go back to therapy which I already had been to multiple. Complete waste of time and copays. Kept calling and telling them I was in pain and couldn’t lift my leg. Finally had an appointment and he was overbooked and could not see me. I at least have an MRI scheduled but the past year has been nothing more than find someone else who will care for you.

Dr Yau and Physical Therapist Mark Conley the BEST
My PCP recommended Dr Yau for my hip replacement since his approach offereda faster recovery time and side steppedproblems with the other well established procedure. From start to finish every detaildone in a first-rate manner. Mark Conley, my physical therapist is among the VERY best in town. He practices with Covenant Health Therapy Center at Fort Sanders West. His technical knowledge combined with his gentle manner and thorough explanation when asked set him apart. I am a technical person and I look for technically competent professionals. Mark could teach physical therapy school. My surgery and recovery have gone exceedingly well. I am very indebted to Dr Yau and Mark Conley.

Honest, Enthusiastic, and Caring
Dr. Yau definitely deserves his reputation as one of the most capable orthopedic surgeons around. He communicated with me so fully and openly that my confidence in him was strong from the git-go. His preparation was so thorough that he reviewed my history before we met and has remembered it throughout the 5 months since he replaced my knee. I am eager for him to replace my other knee in the near future. His enthusiasm jnspires mine.

Excellent surgeon
Dr. Yau provided excellent care for me for my hip replacement. He was very kind and positive about what to expect for the surgery and recovery. He was easy to talk to with a wonderful bedside manner. The surgery was uneventful, and I was in and out the same day. I also received excellent care from Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. On Dr. Yau’s recommendation, I saw Jennifer Galloway at Parkwest Therapy Center at Fort Sanders West for my post-surgery physical therapy. She is a top notch physical therapist and helped me through my therapy with a kind and encouraging approach and I am doing very well with it. I still have a few weeks to go, but I expect to continue to make progress. I also saw Mark Williams, PTA when Jennifer was on vacation, and he was excellent as well. I highly recommend Dr. Paul Yau (TOC at FSR) for anyone needing hip replacement surgery and Jennifer Galloway at PW Physical Therapy at FSW for follow-up physical therapy. I had the best team I could have hoped for
