Dr. Peter Bretan, MD

REFUSES TO LISTEN, reads off of a piece of paper, rushes to dismiss questions, does not actually inspect my concerns physically or with questions, argues and yells over me when I bring up these problems (borderline verbally abusive), does not write anything down for documentation or posterity/future use, and most egregiously – does not treat patients with a kind ear or a kind voice, condescending bedside manner, almost as if we should feel stupid for asking for help.

I would definitely not recommend him and tell you to seek out a different doctor. He was assigned to my case at Watsonville Hospital when I had an acute attack. He is in the same group as Dr Knorr, who used to be my urologist. Dr Knorr is also not very personable. Dr Bretan rushed through appointments. he did not explain anything very well to me. He acted like I was already an expert and would somehow know what was wrong with me or what to do next. I left feeling just as confused as I was when I went in there. He ordered a prescription that would cost me up to $200 a month and would not discuss any other options. Except told me to eat lemon extract. He has no bedside manner, is brusk, generally unpleasant. His office staff is all very nice and helpful.

i went in 2 yrs ago for chronic utis , was very happy to finally be seen by a professional urologist but left heartbroken and sad. “dr Bretan” did not do any test on me, hardly asked any questions, all he did was go through previous paperwork from other doctors and diagnosed me that way. I tried to explain to him my worries and symptoms and all he did was look me dead in the eye and tell me “you’re not the only girl with this condition, there’s plenty of other girls like you who come in here with the same depressed look on their face having the same problem” HE REALLY SAID THAT, my mother wanted to fight him she was shocked and very angry he would even say something like that. I would not recommend this place at all! Seek help elsewhere, if you look at reviews, a lot of different clients have similar stories with this guy.

Dr. Bretan is not a doctor I would recommend. He is arrogant, diagnoses patients without examining them, and doesn't listen. He has zero compassion and a huge ego. Not an effective combination.

I will not recommend Mr Bretan cause his procedures are from the old school no needs with moderan lab test

I found Dr. Bretan to be very professional and my experience with him over the last month has been very good. I did not wait long for him to see me and he explained my condition to me respectfully.

I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Dr. Bretan. I suffered from an obstruction disorder of my urinary tract that wouldn't have been discovered if it wasn't for this man. He performed a right nephrectomy on me which ultimately have me my life back. I have much gratitude for this man for never giving up on me. I am now in my last semester of nursing school and i owe it all to him.
