AVOID THIS DOCTOR!!
The rudest doctor I’ve ever met! He barely listened to me. He quickly examined my hand and walk out of the room and gave me NO. Follow up information! How this doctor doesn’t have a laundry list of lawsuits on him is beyond me! Don’t wait your time! The only positive I have to report is that his medical assistant Stephanie was a sweet heart. She is too nice to be working for him!

Previous Surgery Patient
I too read the reviews and was concerned but honestly, I found him to be a brilliant doctor and surgeon who has a “tell it like it is” bed side manner which I can appreciate. He can be brief but if you need more explanations from him then just ask. I am actually an occupational therapist who had a workers comp injury ( broken arm) and he was my surgeon. This man knows his stuff and that’s what’s important when you want heal. Best of luck to all of you making a choice. I felt compelled to write a positive review because I felt his practiced truly is deserving.

Peter Chan is a very smart man. Much smarter than you. You are lucky to meet him. Peter Chan went to Duke. Did you go to Duke? No, you did not. You are not like Peter Chan. Peter Chan also went to Georgetown. He has a certificate that says so. It is printed on the finest woven paper. So it is framed on his wall. The frame is of the highest caliber. You probably don't recognize the Carpathian pulp from which its built. You went to a...state school you say? No, you do not know. Peter Chan is a busy man. Are you busy? Of course not. You did not spend time at Penn. Peter Chan did. You make less money. More money equals better than. Peter Chan makes lots of money. Because "in and out" culture. "Workers comp" scams. You will never have money. You don't want it? You are a failure. "Your hand is injured you say? It's just pain. I'm a surgeon, not a ergonomicist. What do you want me to do?" Peter Chan is right. Always right. His job is too important to address discomfort. You ask how long you should rest before resuming manual labor? Go to a real doctor. Not a mechanic. Peter Chan is a mechanic. Of the best kind. Capitalism has spoken. Peter Chan is a talented surgeon. He can scalpel through living matter with precision. And never breaks a sweat. For he feels nothing. Why would he? The human body is a machine. If it is broken, he can fix it. He yearns for the marbled flesh. It looks marvelous as the saline drips fresh spatters of coagulation. If Peter Chan can't fix it, there are other broken machines. Maybe they can be fixed? Peter Chan does not talk to the machine as a human. His golfing partners are for that (on Saturdays. 3PM. Freshly laundered pants). But not the machine. For the machine is a patient. It can be sutured. But not respected.

Horrible Dr
When Dr saws me He told me that you are from Rutgers? I said yes! And I tried to explain my pain on my left wrest, he was so aggressive, and never gave me any idea or solution?? So for what I wasted my time to visit a doctor? My hand in pain for more than 3 weeks and he has no idea what to say to his patent, I was surprised that he stands up during our conversation and leaving me, Shame of you! Actually I can’t name you as a Doctor???????

Dr. Chan is brilliant, we found him to be very helpful, and we liked his no nonsense approach. We have used him a few times and highly recommend him. His office staff are very efficient and warm. You could not be in better hands. Sorry, had to do it.

I have had the same negative experience with Dr. Chan as all his other workers comp patients. He sent me back to work the next day with extreme pain and numbness (carpal tunnel), after giving me cortisone shots. He originally gave me a 1 pound lifting restriction and a week later full duty. He is obviously taking money from the insurance company without regard to his patients. The nurse case manager saw him more than he saw me with my injuries. A pure evil man that cannot be trusted

This doctor does not deserve a star. Despite what anyone tells you, this is not the best hand doctor/surgeon in NJ. His poor bedside manner and lack of interest in listening to patient concerns are some of the aspects of his unprofessional conduct during time with patients. This doctor's lacks emotional intelligence and insight hurting his work with understanding needs of patient(s). If you need to see a hand specialist and want a proper assessment and treatment stay far way from Dr. Peter

I was sent to Dr Chan by insurance company due to a work incident. I had to wait 30 minutes from the appointment time to be seen. When nurse was with me Dr Chan called her out to help him with some computer issues. She never returned. Dr Chan did not spent more than 3 minutes with me and gave me a note to return back to work without restrictions. He didn't consider the x-ray done. When asked about the pain I had he said he could not tell when it would go away, can be 1 day, 1 month or few months

Very hard to work with . Got hurt at work on a Friday and needed surgery. He sent me back to work on a Tuesday even tho I needed to have surgery in one week. After surgery he sent me back to work after 3 days . I needed therapy 3 days a week but he refused to change work restrictions . He only looks out after him and not his patients .
