Dr. Peter Kane, MD

Dr Kane did an aortic valve replacement and aortic repair on me in December. Everything went well and I feel great. I'm back to doing long rides on my bike and enjoying life like before. Dr. Kane and his staff were all very professional and I would highly recommend him as a surgeon

I am very pleased with the care and time taken by Dr. Kane and his P.A. Dr. Kane takes a very scary situation and reassures and soothes to the point where I felt confident that this surgery will go smoothly and I’ll just go on with my life after healing. Dr. Kane took a lot of time explaining the procedure and answering questions and never seemed rushed as many doctors are.

My dad had surgery to repair his aorta over a year ago. Dr. Kane did his surgery. He was sent home 5 days after the surgery and ended up with staff infection. After he was cleaned out, dr Kane seen him for follow up appts to which he told my dad he would have to live in pain everyday with everything he had been through. Come to find out the infection was back and in his bones which caused the pain. They caught the infection too late and couldn’t open him back up. My point is, if the doctor was more thorough with my dads pain, he may still be with me today. Doctors just don’t care these days!

Dr Kane performed my heart bypass surgery. I am very satisfied with my whole experience. He is a perfectionist and takes every measure to have a flawless surgery. As a result of that I had minimal pain and quick recovery. His staff is very professional and PAs are very knowledgeable.

I had a successful single coronary bypass surgery performed by Dr. Kane. He took the time to explain the procedure, the desired outcome as well as the risks associated with my surgery in a way that was easy to understand. I considered several other options but after the consult with Dr. Kane felt very confident I was in the right hands. Talented, competent, humble and highly recommended by his peers.

I had a three vessel bypass performed by Dr. Kane. Pre-operatively Dr. Kane informed me of all aspects of the procedure from Pre-op, immediate post-op, to going home. I felt very well informed and knew what to expect. I feel like I sailed through the procedure. I was discharged and Dr. Kane informed me of what the expectations for me were (deep breathing, walking/exercise, etc). I focused on doing the tasks I was told to do and really felt pretty good. On my 3 week post-op visit I asked Dr. Kane if I could go back to work. He applauded my enthusiasm but wanted me to continue to progress without complication.He did let me go back to work after 5 weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Kane. He and his team are fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome.

Two artery CABG surgery. All went well. Out of hospital in 5 days. No complications. No angina in 6 weeks since surgery. I evaluated Duke's cardiac surgery with a visit there. I opted for Dr. Kane and his team over what was available at Duke.

I'm a dentist,now almost 3 weeks out of successful triple coronary bypass surgery done by Dr Peter Kane at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.. I considered stints vs. bypass, Duke University vs local, and all available qualified surgeons. My condition required bypass for sure! Dr Kane was overwhelmingly recommended by his peers (those I know personally). NHRMC has 1/2 post surgical infection rate of Duke. The procedure went great! Textbook!! Couldn't be happier. Way to go Dr Kane and NHRMC!!!

Never in my life have I felt my life to be so worthless. I really thought this guy cared when I was in the hospital. I tried to believe I was in good hands. But after my first follow up, I can now see I was wrong. Complete disregard to my complications post-surgery. And completely no response to my questions as to why I was having the complications I was experiencing. I’m sorry for taking time out of his busy day to ask why I have had complications from a surgery he performed.

Very satisfied with Dr. Kane as he explained the by-pass surgery and why it was necessary to proceed with the surgery after all tests and results had been completed. Would highly recommend Dr. Kane to any of my family members and friends.
