I went to Peter Schwartz for blurry vision and he immediately recognized macular degeneration. I was at a retinal surgeon's office in Syracuse 3 hours later and they saved my vision in my right eye. I have been going to Dr. Schwartz for about a decade and can't say enough good about him.

Friendly Staff
Overall, the Dr and staff seem to be friendly and accommodating and have the means to handle all age ranges. For example when I brought my kid, they were nice and patient with them and had toys and printouts to help gauge their vision.

Made an appointment with Dr. Schwartz who performed my cataract surgery 9 years ago because my vision in one eye had become cloudy. Did not see him, but instead a Dr Smith, who I’d never meet before, who proceeded to give me a routine vision exam with no explanation. When I tried to ask questions but she was rude, hurried and unprofessional and told me I could leave since I had came there “voluntarily.” I did leave at once, but did after her abrupt and dismissive manner were continued. I have never been treated so condescendingly by ANY health care professional, and I am 71 years old. DO NOT HO TO THIS PRACTICE. Spend your and your insurance dollars on respectful care.

In all of the years of Doctors, I have never been to an office that the staff is so unprofessional! I like Dr Schwartz, but his staff is sooo rude! I can’t believe he doesn’t know this. I’m better then to be treated like that, I’m gone!

I WISH I've read these BAD reviews prior to setting my appt with the Doctor for yearly eye exam and Contact lens fitting.. Stay away from this practice! the Front office staff (yes that's you Karen!) for their Unprofessional manners, Rude, cutting you off the phone, several times, I had to drive to their office and talk in person!! this was the utmost disrespect I ever ever experienced with any medical practice. Not to get in details, I have been waiting for my Contact Lenses prescriptions for over 90 DAYS!! and I CANNOT order them anywhere. I am paying Extra for this exam, but they chose to 'plagiarize' the numbers off my old containers I stupidly brought with me, signed it as a Valid '1 Year' doctor prescription which later i found Costco, Walmart would not honor it. Now, they are asking to come back and pay again for another fit??!! Very BAD Experience, stay away !! oh, there's a Dispute open with BCBS to sum it up!!

This is most unprofessional office I have ever been in or had experience with. I was completely taken back by the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the doctor and office staff. I took my 93 yr old father there for an examine because his PCP had referred him to this doctor, the doctor acted agitated and voice agitation at my father and myself because the lenses of his scope got fogged due to the mask my father had to wear due to Covid, this in itself completely shocked me. We ordered glasses, paid for them, which they said would be about 10 days before we could pick them up. The person that took this glasses order transposed 2 numbers of my father’s phone # and never checked his chart to confirm the number and left multiple messages on some stranger’s phone about the glasses. So, it has been 5 weeks now and I still do not have my father’s glasses and they are fighting me about getting a refund. BEWARE! Do yourself a favor and explore other doctors.

I have had no problems with the doctor himself, but the office staff is completely lacking in professionalism. Scheduling is always a problem and there is always considerable wait time once you do get there; that being the case, one would not expect to be turned away by arriving 7 minutes late! Yet that is exactly what happens-no questions or interest in knowing what you had to do to get there. This is an office I hope to avoid in the future by having my records transferred elsewhere.

My 88 year old father had a 10:30 appt this morning. It is a very snowy day, and it took me an hour to get to his nursing home. We were 10-12 minutes late. They turned us away, and rescheduled for later this month. So now, I have to get my Dad, who has congestive heart failure and uses a walker, back to the nursing home to rest, and persuade him why we should go back. There is more to good health care than keeping to a schedule. There is also common sense, compassion, and understanding.

Front office staff is very unprofessional and non accommodating, can't get an appointment for several months, when you do schedule an appointment be prepared to wait in the waiting room for a good 45 minutes to an hour after your scheduled time, doctor is okay but rushes you out of the room and does not explain diagnosis very well. I wouldn't recommend unless you have a lot of time to waste in your day.

I called for an eye exam and they said they were booking out a couple months. I scheduled the next available appointment and was told I could call back to see if there had been any cancellations, so I could be seen sooner. I called about a week or so later and they were able to get me in that Tuesday due to a cancellation. The entire staff was very pleasant and professional.

Best doctors in town!!! My whole family goes to Dr. Schwartz's office! The office is wonderful about taking care of my contact lens needs and it's nice that they have my contacts in stock at all times. The staff is wonderful. It's always nice to hear them laughing with the other patients and they are very welcoming.

If you are articulate and patient, he is more likely to answer your questions. Otherwise, he is rather impatient and does not take the time to explain what is happening. Especially with children or disabled children. The office experience has the feel of a production line and we are the products.
