Very engaged, current and caring
Dr. Silberstein clearly is passionate about the practice of medicine, current on research related to his specialty, humble, straightforward and no nonsense. He clearly cared about me as a person and gave individualized pertinent suggestions in a respectful manner. New York type communication style may lead some to mistake his communication as autocratic when really he is simply direct and expectant of the same. Highly likeable.

Excellent Hematologist
Dr. Silberstein listens well, is prepared for visits by having reviewed patient's records ahead of time. He explains in understandable terms that a layman can grasp. He came to a satisfactory plan with how to deal with the medical issues. I highly recommend him! In addition, his resident was very knowledgeable. It was obvious he had been taught well by Dr. Silberstein.

Not caring!
We loved his attitude and aggressive treatment at first. But he was never organized and never prepared to go over any results with us. He would literally read them as we were. I had to mention the ascites in which he grabbed the results from me asking where it said that. After 10 months of chemo and my husband requiring parencentesis twice a week we set up a meeting with my whole family with him. We all knew my husband was dying and we wanted to discuss stopping chemo and going on hospice. He literally sat across the room from all of us saying he didn’t need hospice because he walked in there and he thought he looked good, even though he did not .He said we could take a break from chemo, talk to palliative care and we would meet in 2 more months to discuss restarting chemo. He died 18 days later! Palliative care even suggested hospice immediately in which we got four days with before he died. Him and his PA are not on the same page! His nurse is not very caring. Go with your heart.

The worst! Doesn't care. Doesn't communicate. My Moms platelet count was at 90 and he said people can live a normal live with a count that low. She needs a new hip and they won't do surgery because the counts to low. Hows that a normal life?

Knowledgeable doctor
Dr Silberstein is a fast working quick on his toes doctor. He doesn't waste time and gets right to the point. Some people might be offed about that manor, but I appreciate it. He is my mom's dr and I've been with her every moment when she's been with the medical staff. She's been under his care for low iron anemia. The dr, his nurse, resident, nurse practitioner, and scheduler are all great. They make my mom feel special as well as getting her back to feeling better. My mom especially loves his colorful neckties.

I believe that we should have moved on to another Dr. He seemed more intersted in his students than trying to save my husbands life. He lived 4 mos. with Dr Silbersteins treatment plan.

Absolutely NOT. was so disinterested in my case he opened my files for the first time as I sat in front of him. Immediately gave me a death sentence. Fired him ...hired a much better oncologist. He apparently is too busy to really be involved. Good riddance. Find a Dr that cares. This guy isn't it...I assure you. Please publish this for people that really need a GREAT doctor. Not one who phones it in.

My friend was referred to him by his Dr. Dr Silberstein was arrogant, even said what are you even doing here because he knew the oncologist we had seen previously and simply agreed with him, didn't even do a blood test. 4 months later my friend is fighting for his life after bring diagnosed with lymphoma! DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS DR!

I would highly recommend going to a different doctor. This guy is arrogant and uncaring. I blame him for my mother not having a chance of fighting the cancer she was diagnosed with since he failed to inform us, on many of occasions when we asked if the test results were back, that the test hadn't even been sent in because of a problem with billing. He didn't care in the slightest.

Dr. Silberstein is a no nonsense kind of guy. He knows his field of medicine and I have seen him on several occasions teaching students. They always seem to have a lot of respect for him. I never have any problems with him answering all my questions. The only Dr. I know that passes out cookies to everyone in his waiting room.

I disliked his resident, his nurse and him. He and his resident drilled me on decisions I or another Dr. had made that really didn't apply to why I was there. The nurse came in without acknowledging me, flat affect and couldn't keep up with what Dr. wanted her to write down. And the things he wanted written down were right on my chart anyway. Felt awkward and anxious and just wanted to get out of there. Won't be back. Also tried to push me to come back in a month. Declined.

Could not get a straight answer from him. He was extremely disorganized. He seemed to question why I thought I needed to know the information I was asking, like I was just supposed to accept that he was the expert and do whatever he said.
