There is much more to pain mgmt than appears on the surface. Dr Matthews was my physician for the better part of 30 years, dating back to 1986, when I was in a horrific rear-end auto accident. He not only successfully helped me through THAT situation, but through several others over the years. I watched him roll with the changes in the medical field, and through the opioid epidemic. The bottom line- is that people need to accept responsibility for their OWN actions. Common sense and being in touch with one’s self is key. Just because you CAN do something, does not necessarily mean that you should. People have a tendency to abuse- Literally ANYTHING. But Dr. Matthews helped me, year after year with solid advice and care. I had plenty of opportunity to abuse and become an addict just like everyone else. But I chose to pay attention. And if it weren’t for Phil and his personal care, I would not have made it successfully through all the years like I did. Thank you, Dr Matthews

I had two family members see him for years. And both of them ended up in rehab, directly by his hand. The amount of pills he prescribed was ridiculous, and I am a health professional. Ask him why he can't prescribe that class of drugs anymore. Ask him why you can do a web search and come up with countless patients who have accused him of the same thing. Both my family members did depositions against him, so there's a reason he's only left with his snakeoil witchcraft. Run, don't walk, anywhere else.

I have been a hyper-mobility patient of Dr Matthews since 2006 and have recommended him to numerous friends and family members (including my mother), some of whom have made repeat visits. Dr Matthews has always been patient with me and I have learned much about not only my condition, but about how osteopathy fits into a holistic approach to health and overall wellness versus doctors that merely treat the symptom and then write a prescription. In all this time, Dr Matthews has never once suggested opioids and since I am one of those people that does not physically feel right after taking them, I try to avoid them whenever possible. I would have left Dr Matthews a long time ago if I sensed he was a doctor looking for a shortcut through pills versus addressing the underlying condition causing my pain. If you are currently suffering physical pain, and are seeking to address the root cause, I cannot recommend Dr Mathews enough.

Doctor Matthews is essentially a drug pusher. He is a sad example of what happens when doctors sell out to big pharma for cash. This doctor is not above lying and over prescribing opiates. Be careful, he can seem like a nice guy, but he isn't. This doctor should never have been permitted to practice in WA state.

Dr Matthews is very compassionate & understanding. Livivg with chronic pain is a challenge and it's a relief to find a physician that doesn't judge you & make you feel worthless. I appreciate that he's honest and tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. He manages my pain living with an autoimmune disease, trigeminal neurology, fibro, other challenges & through several surgeries.
