Not too impressed with Dr. Storey
The staff is amazing they are very nice and professional! Dr. Storey is professional but he needs to take some time to actually sit down and get to know a person with special needs, not the disability, so he can see that people with special needs do understand, they are not stupid, they are human just like you and me. He told me he would leave my son's eyes as they are (my son is medically fragile, has cerebral palsy amongst other things) since he doesn't really understand and just help him be comfortable. My son will lose his eye sight if he doesn't continue with his now treatment, not thanks to Dr. Storey and my son IS A PERSON who does understand a lot of things and he does have feelings and out of ALL medical problems he has, he would love to at leaser have his eyes healthy again and be able to enjoy seeing things again Christmas lights that he loves

Very knowledgeable and communicates well
I have seen Dr.Storey for several visits. The testing, staff and his patient interaction are all superb. Initially followed up at 6 weeks, then several months, now just annual visits with specific instructions to call if certain symptoms arise

Diagnosis was quick and accurate and surgery was scheduled for the following day due to the urgency of the condition. Dr.Storey and his operating room staff worked with speed and precision and the procedure itself was completed in less than an hour. I am grateful to everyone involved for the work done to save the vision in that eye.

Long wait and too many people at once
I waited 2.5 hours to see the doctor for less than five minutes. There were a lot of patients in the office. Most were elderly and at elevated risk of contracting Covid. At one point I was directed to wait in a very small internal waiting room with multiple other patients where there was no room for social distancing despite masks being required. This seems like a viral Petri dish and I was uncomfortable but stuck since my eyes were dilated. I would suggest an improvement that the office book less appointments to get people in and out quicker, especially with the Omicron spike and the number of aged patients and others who may be at risk. They also had equipment malfunctions with an imaging device and their billing system which caused additional delays.

Dr. Storey is an exceptionally friendly and thorough doctor. After he repaired a torn retina in my eye, I have had no issues whatsoever and he has been great in all my follow-up visits. I am very happy that I found him.

Dr. Storey and the team at Austin Retina are so kind, patient and efficient. They've responded very quickly and patiently to my weekend calls when I was recovering from my retina surgery, having various questions about my post-op symptoms. Dr. Storey has a lively, positive energy about him, and it helps you feel more at ease when you are discussing serious things, like surgery on your eyes! I shared with him that I was an animal lover, (proud mom of 2 labradors) and being a dog lover himself, he reminded me that my dogs were important to my healing and recovery. This meant a lot to me, as I was very scared going into my surgery. I hope he will continue to always be this warm, patient and kind as he advances in his career, because it goes a long way when you are scared and dealing with such important and serious surgeries.

Dr. Phillip Storey performed the emergency surgery on my left eye for detached retina. He explained the details of my condition and what to expect. He answered all of my questions prior to the surgery. The surgery went very well and it gave me the confidence that everything would go well after the surgery. Post-op instructions were very critical and Dr. Storey and the staff provided very clear instructions which I followed, and as a result, there were no problems during the recovery period. I'm very happy and satisfied with the way Dr. Storey and the staff took good care of me. It is very evident that Dr. Storey cares very much about his patients and their recovery.

This visit was a followup to previous surgeries Dr. Storey performed: laser surgery to repair a torn retina in my left eye and then, a few months later, surgery to remove a large floater from the same eye. Dr. Storey did a great job with both procedures and I had no complications. Recovery was smooth both times. He has a great personality, is very thorough, and absolutely knows his job. I am very happy with Dr. Storey's services and enthusiastically recommend him to anyone who needs a retina specialist.
