Knows what she is talking about
I have been going to Dr Patel for about 8 years. She is very knowledgeable. I feel she listens to what I am saying and works with me to find what works for me. 100% recommend her.

Mixed review.
I have seen Dr. Patel and three NPs in the practice over the last few years. Dr. Patel was just fine, (I've had no issues with her), and I really liked two of the three NPs; one of them helped me tremendously, and I was sad when she left. My big struggle with the office has been in trying to contact them. I needed a refill of a med, and it took me two weeks to reach someone as no one would answer the phone. I eventually got what I needed when I sent a message through their electronic system. I am hoping that the issue has been resolved.

Excellent Knowledge of RA
She knew the right medication for my RA. I had tried 4 different ones that I plateaued and couldn’t stop the progression of the RA. Her ARPNs are fantastic too. Very attentive, great listeners.

This lady is an evil snake. During my last appointment she literally berated me saying I needed to “just accept it” the IT Being her assertion that there was nothing wrong with me besides fibromyalgia, and she said not to ask anymore doctors for help. Turns out she doesn’t know a damned thing. I have severe nerve damage and thoracic outlet syndrome and I need at least three surgeries and this lady told me to avoid sugar… not only that but she LITERALLY SAID TO QUIT ASKING OTHER DOCTORS FOR ANSWERS. she said stop seeking help, they will only offer me stuff that won’t work. Meanwhile I have a major vein and blood vessel entrapment and dying muscle… she doesn’t even have a United States medical degree. It’s an “equivalence” degree she has.

After waiting a year for an appointment due to office disorganization I have had a horrible experience. Referred by my primary care due to abnormal labs. Dr. Patel is clearly very smart. She isn’t “rude” but she is asking a line of questioning not to help but to make you someone else’s problem. Her assessment however was accusatory and dismissive. “Why are you here” because I was referred here why the hell else would I be. If rheumatology issues were ruled out the caring and professional thing to do is - ok here are some recommendations I will send to your pcp but your issues do not appear to be in my specialty. I’m a healthcare provider and I don’t feel she was trying to help. She was trying to rule out me being her problem. Headaches - not my problem, hormones - not my problem, chronic pain - and I quote “oh you will hurt”. Who says that? Seriously - No concern AT all and at that point I knew I was wasting my time. After waiting over an hour for my first visit I was told in summar

Dr. Patel returned me to medication after a previous doctor had removed me from medication. She never took time to discuss the medication and dosage. She indicated that I had severe arthritis which I did not have at the time. They did not provide copies of any documents and records. I later requested the files only to find that information included was not accurate and her statements that I agreed with the files were false since I never saw them. I remained on medication, only to later discover that I had mild inflammation and there were no records of testing to indicate the contrary. I completely changed my life based on her recommendations and my health has become a major obstacle in my life. After reviewing the comments that she has in her records, I have determined that they are false.

Dr Patel is arrogant, not very friendly and doesn't tell me anything about my RA. Everything I have found has been on the internet. Unfortunately there are not that many rheumatologists in Tallahassee so I am stuck with her. Ginny NP is very nice however she has told me I am required to have one visit per year with Dr Patel which is one visit to many.

Without a doubt, the worst doctor I've ever been to. She's arrogant, rude, and actually seems annoyed that she has to listen to your health concerns. Also, for future patients, after your initial consultation, you get handed off to an inexperienced nurse practitioner. Why the State of Florida allows this is beyond me. If you desire to be treated as subhuman, then by all means Dr. Patel is for you. She cares about one thing: MONEY. She could care less about you as a patient.

I could have written this exact review from another patient. I had the exact same experience. Going to see someone else. "She was very rude ! She acted as if I was making up everything I was telling her. And she kept saying over & over... you know if you really do have RA you will have to go thru Chemo. Uh NO. Needless to say - I am NOT going back."

Not very friendly, doesn't smile much. Not rude, just a bit impersonal. If you have specific questions, make sure you ask them outright. She'll go 10 miles in a circle giving you information, rather than just straight shot from Point A to Point B. My friend who was with me asked, "Can she get on medication?" and Pooja answered, "If she wants to." I'm the patient, why am I suggesting meds to you? ARNP Ginny is nice. They need to work on returning calls & better receptionists.

I have suffered with Lupus and fibromyalgia for many years. Through this experience I have seen many rheumatologists in Tallahassee and surrounding areas. I was very impressed with Dr. Patel my first visit and I continue to pleased after several years there. We have gone for many years in Tallahassee with not much of a choice in rheumatology so I am thrilled to have found her.

Be prepared to be treated as if you are just another number to them. They rarely return phone calls or messages through the portal. Emergency situations are not important and you will wait for months before actions are followed through. I don't mind Dr. Patel being upfront and to the point, but she shows no sympathy and makes excuses for her office staff not following through with insurance approvals. I'm very dissapointed and switching to another rheumatologist.
